| Believe it or not, colon cancer is what really made us friends. I have known Alicia for a long time because she was both of my kids preschool teacher, as well as their teacher for a school-age summer program our community center runs. I found out she had colon cancer one day, about 4 years ago, when I went to pick Kelsey up from the summer program and her assistant pulled me aside and shared the news with me. So, I reached out to Alicia and talked to her when she wanted to talk, and helped out in the classroom when she needed a hand, and we became much closer. So, naturally, when we found out Tim was sick with colon cancer, I reached out to her and she really helped us both through it.
Anyway, she is going for a colonoscopy on Friday because she is experiencing symptoms that are causing her some alarm. I can tell she is really scared. She says she hasn't really told anybody because she doesn't want to worry anyone, but now is when she could really use some support. If you could just keep Alicia, and her husband Brian (I know he must be very worried too), in your prayers, I would gratefully appreciate it. Thanks.

| Thanks so much for the prayers. She wants me to call her this weekend, so I'll post an update.
I hate it too, Vanessa. In this past year alone it has affected so many people, it feels unreal.

| You got it Pam. This has been such a problem for so many families. Detection and treatment is everything! It is the lack of Christianity that has brought us where we are. Not a lack of churches or religious forms but of the real thing in our hearts. LIW.....Words From a Fearless Heart | |

| Thanks, Gin. Yes, it is. She scheduled an appointment as soon as she noticed a problem, so even though we're all thinking positive and hoping it's nothing to cause alarm, at the same time, if there is something wrong it's good that she, and her doctor, stepped right on it. I can see how it affects someone who has been there, Tim says it will always be with him and no matter what, he will always have that worry in the back of his mind. | |

| Rhonda, I am very sorry to hear about the gentlemen from your church who have colon cancer. You are right, it doesn't care who it strikes next. I will tell Alicia about the Noni juice. Thanks for the tip. Thanks for the prayers, Rhonda and Teresa. | |

| I have great news!! Alicia just called me and told me that everything is fine!! No polyps, suspicious areas, or anything. Just a nice, healthy colon. Plus, she found out that she is going to be able to get her mediport (what was implanted in her chest to deliver chemo when she had cancer) finally, after all these years. She had insurance issues and things going on, so she was never able to get it taken out and has to continue to go for monthly port flushes. So, this is great news for her too. Thanks so much for your prayers. | |

| Alicia has now been having some other issues. Ever since the colonoscopy, she has had pain around her mediport area (what was used to give her chemo when she had cancer, it is implanted under the skin in her chest area), and then over the weekend she noticed that whole area is swollen, as well as around her neck. So, she went to the doctor today and is having to go for some tests in the morning to see what's going on. So, if you can just keep her in your prayers that it is nothing serious, it would be very much appreciated. Just when she thinks she's all in the clear, there is yet another complication. | |

| Poor Alicia! I'll keep her in my prayers...When did she noticed the swollen and painful area? Her case is one more of a lot of similar ones I know: a person is not feeling well, goes to doctors, doctors saids they are O.K but the person keeps feeling badly...It seems that doctors just can't find people's illnesses... Let us know how things go..... Yes, she is supposed to get it taken out at the end of the month. I think it will end up being sooner now with everything going on. I'll keep you posted. - Vanesa wrote:

Vanesa Thanks, Vanessa. She noticed discomfort right after the procedure, so that's why she thinks it's linked, since that was when her port was last accessed and the pain is in that area. And, I agree. That kind of thing happens a lot. - bethandmanly wrote:

Thank you, Cheryl. | |

| Thanks for the prayers. They ran the tests and couldn't find anything wrong. So, it leaves her to wonder what is going on. She is supposed to get it taken out next week anyway, so I'm hoping once it's out, whatever is going on clears up. | |
