Prayers desperately needed

Hi all.
I am posting this on behalf of my friend Beth Ingalls Leisses. She is a member here but doesn't post. A lot of you know her from facebook and emails so I am counting on you to pray. Her husband David suffered a heart attack last night (july 5). I don't know how serious it was, I heard from their daughter in a brief note on fb. But Dave is not in good health as it is. He was a heavy smoker and now has only about 15-20% of his lung compacity. He is on oxygen all the time and can barely walk from one side of the room to the other. I am truly afraid for his life at this point.
I am also very concerned for Beth. She has often told me that she will be so lonely if anything ever happens to Dave. I wish I was with her to comfort her but she is in Wisconsin, half a day's journey from me.
Mary, their daughter is travelling from MN to be with Beth.
This last father's day was very special for Dave. All of his kids (4) either visited or called on the phone. One daughter has been distanced from the family for some time but she called and talked to him on that day too. He was sooo happy. Please pray that the family is reconciled and fences mended.

Dave is a special man. He is a wealth of knowledge on any subject and a lot of fun to talk to. I am really devastated to hear that this has happened to him.

Prayers for Dave and Beth......

Oh, that is such sad news. I'm sorry Marilyn, I know you are hurting for your friend and are feeling pretty helpless right now. I'll be praying for Dave, and for Beth too. How many years have they been married, do you know?

I am so sorry to hear about this. I believe Beth and Dave have been married just over 10 yrs. this past November. I will try to find out more later. Marilyn if you hear let me know. In the meantime we can all pray for them both.

Yes, they have been married for about 10 years but they have been together for many years. They never lived together but Beth helped Dave raise his kids after their mother left. They call her Mom and they are HER kids.
I haven't heard any more news. I know that Beth will be staying as long as she can at the hospital. I'd call her if I knew when she would come home. I know that she will post when she can and if she can't, her daughter will. She is, or will be enroute to WI from MN likely sometime today.

Daddy is doing better today - still weak, but sitting up and eating (grudgingly a heart healthy diet) and taking lots of naps - will know more as more tests are completed today - thank you for all the prayers and please, please, please keep them coming!

Beth sent Lorrie a note yesterday and the next one was from daughter Mary posted a few minutes ago. Thanks for your continued prayers.

Dave is doing pretty good...looks 60 per cent better than yesterday. The xrays from last night showed that the lung is almost completely inflated again. they did ultra sound on the heart today, but we haven't heard the results of that as yet. Mary stayed with him last night and staying again tonight. Tomorrow all three of us will have a slumber party!!! They wanted me to get some rest again tonight...I was pretty tired from Wednesday....up for 23 hours then 5 hours of sleep and going strong again today.

All four kids will be here tomorrow so it will be another busy one. Many friends have been dropping in...the nurses and docs are all great.

Daddy a little bit of a rough night and is very tired today - good news is lung is stable and tube has been clamped off - if he remains stable it could be removed tomorrow - now is the difficult time of being an adult and helping make the best choice of the next steps - continued prayers, not only for his health, but that we the best choices as a family -

As far as I have heard today, Dave is doing well and making small steps in progress. Thank You Lord and thank you friends!

Another note from Mary.

It is Monday! I am back at the office and just got off the pone with Beth Ingalls-Leisses - Daddy is stable, they are leaving the tube in place with suction to make sure that the lung has time to heal - please, please, please prayers for the hole to heal in his lung!!!!! I will talk to Mom later today and keep you all posted - thank you so much for your love and support!

Mary Leisses his left lung collapsed causing his esophogus, heart and right lung to shift to the right - this caused the heart attack - if the hole in the lung doesn't heal, he will have to undergo surgery to have it repaired -

Good heavens! Poor Dave! Well with prayer and a little love from family he will be fine. Thanks Marilyn!

I'll be praying for Beth and Dave, be sure of it...Hope he wouldn't need to undergo surgery. Lungs are very delicate...

Sorry that I haven't updated in awhile. I was away from home last week and it is sometimes difficult to cut and paste on an iPad.
Dave is doing better. The following post came from his daughter Mary yesterday.

Daddy got the chest tube out today!!!! Yeah!!!! He is doing good and feeling better - some of the pain pills has been stopped as well - that is also a good thing. Elain and I are staying till Tue - please keep the prayers coming!!!!!

Beth is doing well too, but I think she is tired. I know that she spends a lot of time at the hospital unless one of the kids are there to stay with their dad and let her come home. Please continue praying for both of my dear friends. Here is a pic so you can see who you have been praying for.

Prayers are working

Yeah!! Party in WI! Daddy got discharged from the hospital yesterday and admitted to a residential center for physical rehab!! Looking back over the last two weeks, this is such great progress! On another note, they did find a mass in his right lung but he is opting to not do anything right now and just focus on healing for now. Thank you all for the prayers!!!!! Please keep them coming!!!!!
