I am taking ballroom dance lessons!

As some of you may have already read on Facebook I am taking a few ball room dance lessons! I was inspired by Dancing With the Stars. I had my first of 3 last night and had a blast! My teacher is gorgeous! That's the closest I have been to a man in a long time, lol! (May be my last few times with how badly my love life is going. ) Anyway he said I did a really good job and he had fun teaching me! I have always liked to dance and was told several times in my life that I am a good dancer. So that helped me. Also since I have always been able to let the music move me that helped me too. I was worried because I am not that coordinated when dancing with someone else, lol. I can't wait till my next lesson!

How fun! I would have to hire a partner. My hubby wouldn't go without being under the influence of ...well, anything.

Oh how fun! What type of Ballroom dancing are you learning? I love the Quickstep but I would just trip over my own feet & fall!

I have my second lesson tomorrow night. He showed me Fox Trot, The Hustle, and Rumba. I hope he shows me the Tango!

Had my second lesson last night. He showed me the Tango. It is so hard!!! I go for my last lesson tomorrow and will probably focus on this again. I forget the steps already, lol. The steps are complicated. Hopefully I will catch on quick again tomorrow. He is such a good teacher and a nice guy. He said I did very well! To bad he is getting married in 3 weeks, lol.

Tango is one of the most difficult ballroom dances. I never could really dance it...

Do you think you will continue taking lessons at some point?

I do like to ballroom dance. I studied a bit and I had a job interview with the Fred Astaire Dance Studio (I actually helped to teach it a bit at the dance school I was going to). But I decided it wasn't for me because the pay wasn't worth it at all (only get paid if a student shows up and you only get good money if a student competes/wins - at least that is how it was at the time of the interview).

I personally love to Tango. I have never danced the Argentine Tango, though. I love Swing and the Fox Trot. The Fox Trot is fun. But my absolute favorite is the Waltz. I don't think there is anything as enjoyable as a good waltz when dancing is concerned.

I have 2 lessons left and may take hip hop next. The ballroom is so hard and I can't really practice well by myself. But it is fun, but hard.

I get your point about practicing ballroom by yourself. It is kind of awkward visualizing holding someone rather than actually having that person there to hold for the dance.

If you decide to start hip hop, I would be curious to hear how it goes. I took that for a little while a few years ago. I much prefer jazz over hip hop. But it seems like a good amount of schools teach hip hop over jazz. And I really don't understand why. They are different types of dancing (I think is jazz is much more theatrical, which I love). So I don't understand why they don't have more of a variety when it comes to a dance that is not ballet or tap. Anyway, I thought hip hop was fun. You would probably like it, too.

I don't know if I can spin on my head. I actually did a presentation on break dancing in college. I love it!

The hip hop thing they have is not only a dance class but also a work out class. Should be a blast! He also teaches African, Dance Hall, and other dancing during that class too.
