I am not sure if i am good enough Gin

Don't doubt yourself, Jacob! With a little training you can learn all that you need. You have the heart for it. I did a course with the New York Institute of Photography....check it out online. You order all your material and do it in your own time. I did it within two years . They assign you a photographer as a leader to help answer all your question along the way.

Aaaah, I know what you mean. My best vacations have been when we've been RIGHT on the lake or bay up North. My pipe-dream is to own lake property one day.

I'm with Gin and Rob! You obviously really enjoy photography, if you took that many! And you have told us over the years that you want to do more traveling. So even learning more about it just for recreational use would be a good idea. But I agree with them, you do have the talent and 'knack' for this, to go for it professionally!

Yes...show us all 900! Haha I'm kidding...but would love to see more!

It's so funny to hear about someone taking 900 pics. I remember the days of pre-digital photography, when film came in rolls and every shot was money out of pocket. You'd agonize over whether or not to take a picture - "Do I really want to waste an exposure on this?" Those days are gone.

So true Rob! You know, in some ways I miss film. We would actually get pictures developed and I remember how exciting it was to actually wait to get pictures, and pick them up from the store and open the envelope in anticipation. Remember that?! It was FUN! And now, it's just---instantaneous. Cool, but there's no 'process' to it and I guess I miss the process. And now they just stay in my computer for eons and never get into photo albums like they used to.

Ok Here ya go, i am more then happy sharing more of my pictures i just didn't want to bore you with posting tons of pictures
Thank you for the Encouragement I want to look into taking a course now if not as a Career but more knowledge for even just as a Hobby would be great

Love these, Jacob! Again, that sunset one is incredible. And oooooh, I so want to go back to the island!! Love that feeling when you first see all the buildings come into view from the ferry.

Your pictures are the kind that I strive to take. As I take them I think they are going to look so great and then I soon discover they are just OK.

My hubby saw my new Lake Michigan sunset screensaver last night and he said, "Oh WOW, is that gorgeous." (It takes a lot to impress Bill, so it's kind of a big deal that he even noticed it. ). I said, "Doesn't that look professional?" and he said he assumed it was. So there you have it, Jacob!

My brother told me a while back i should try entering some pictures in magazines i never put much thought in to that but does anyone know if there are magazines out there that do that? not looking to get rich off it or anything

Well, at some time I will have to stop being so lazy and post something from some of the trips that I went on. Maybe I will even post Little House photos. And then you will see that they don't compare to yours.

I know that The Smithsonian Magazine and The National Geographic both have photo contests. I am sure there are many others out there, too. You should definitely look into that! I always want to enter the contest for the one Civil War magazine that I get, but I know none of my pictures would even be considered (especially when you see what the photos look like that are finalists!). They have a "young" category, too. Some of those are so good. But I am generally negative and just figure that those kids had parents take the pictures for them. That just makes me feel better when it comes to my mediocre photography then. I don't care to think that some 12 year-old can take a better picture than I can! So, naturally their mom/dad took it for them and entered it in their name for them.
