I see what you're saying Lori. I mean, 'hard proof' would probably be the logical thing to do before you go out and knock someone off. But yeah, like Lisa said...there had to be another way. Actually, what kind of real proof would he get from Anna by asking that question? If anything, he should have figured he got info from Mrs. Hughes the first time...all he had to do was come out to Mrs. Hughes that he more than strongly suspected Green, and he knows she would have caved, even if Anna wouldn't. Lisa, you were saying before how gipped you felt by not being able to see Green getting the axe. I know that a LOT of fans have a beef with this. Honestly, I am just not happy about the DEATH at all. I didn't want to see him killed...I wanted him to have some kind of justice. Being hit by a bus or whatever it was? WAY too easy for him. I didn't want anyone to actually KILL the guy...I wanted him to suffer somehow. Not sure how, I just wanted him to suffer and 'pay' in some way, other than death. 'Death', especially in this way, was too quick and easy for my taste. This guy didn't 'pay'. I mean, he'll pay by the ultimate Judge (I'm taking comfort in that fact), but still. I agree though that this 'oh, by the way, Green is dead' was a big cop-out. JF definitely robbed the fans of some satisfaction here. I REALLY hope it wasn't Bates....But, WHO then?? And good grief, if it ends up being just a random accident? LAME!! Can't wait to see what's in store, but none of the options I have as possibilities in my head are satisfying in the least. “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

| I haven't had a lot of time this week, but here are a few thoughts I had.
Someone at the DA forum has suggested Gillingham is just a fortune hunter. As time goes on, I can see how that might be plausible. After testing the waters and saying he would give her as much time as she needed to make a decision about marrying him, he suddenly wants her to decide before leaving Downton. He sees no future in pursuing her, so his family announces his engagement to Ms. Fox. Then he returns and asks what Blake feels is the future for Downton and when Blake says it looks good, his engagement to Ms. Fox is suddenly called off. This is a wild idea, but what if he killed Green? Let's say, he either discovered what Green did or simply sees him as an obstacle to getting what he wants: Lady Mary's hand in marriage. I could see it happening.
As for Bates posing the question to Anna, though I think it wasn't a good move, I felt he was trying to test the waters for her reaction. The writers should have given him something better to say; maybe he could have asked her why she didn't seem keen on Green's return. I think it must be hard when you know someone is lying through her teeth at you, especially if you don't understand her motivation. They both want to protect each other. In the end, though the suspicion lies heavily on Bates, I don't think it will be him who killed Green.
The Moseley/Baxter pairing is interesting, so maybe we get to see Moseley help her out from under the thumb of Thomas. That could be neat. They are also talking about an O'Brien return. Hmmm...
My hopes for Season 5 now that it is official: Rose and Jimmy go away somewhere, anywhere, separately or together, never to be heard from again.

| Oh! Cheryl, your post must have come through while I was typing. Ack!! I hope that Gillingham isn't a fortune-hunter. I don't think that of him at this point. *I* had considered him a possible suspect in Green's death - but not because he saw him as an obstacle. Maybe he found out about *another* woman Green had raped while Gillingham had been traveling, and felt partly responsible since HE had brought the valet into that home. So he took matters into his own hands. Maybe it was a combination - he'd found out about another woman who'd been attacked by Green, and after that, Gillingham may have thought that there was something ugly that he'd done to Mary, and that was why she wouldn't explain her reasoning for wanting him sacked. It isn't all that plausible - but you never know. Your theory is possible, too. But I *certainly* hope that he isn't just out to get Mary's fortune. I like him, and don't want to think that of him. I think he genuinely cares for Mary.
And YES - let's hope that Jimmy GOES AWAY.

| I hadn't seen Gillingham as a fortune hunter, but I do think that is plausible. And I hadn't thought of it, but he certainly could have taken care of Green. I don't really think it will be Bates who did it. Hopefully we will find out some things in the Christmas episode. | |

| Looking forward to the Christmas special? Here is a review from the iTV network.
It's the summer season and as part of Rose's 'coming out' she is to be presented at Buckingham Palace. The family and servants are at Grantham House, their London residence, preparing for the busy social program. Not one to miss such a grand occasion, Cora's mother, Martha Levinson makes the journey from New York with her playboy son Harold, fresh from his recent brush with the law. Both outspoken and larger-than-life, they make quite an impression amongst certain members of London's high society, in particular with Lord Aysgarth, played by James Fox.
Isobel finds herself with an admirer while Edith is wrestling with a moral dilemma. Downstairs, Daisy gets an unexpected invitation and Carson treats the staff to a special day out. When the Crawleys are implicated in a scandal that threatens to engulf the monarchy, Robert will go to great lengths to protect the royal family, and his own. The episode was filmed in spectacular locations in London and the south of England including Lancaster House, which was used to depict the interiors of Buckingham Palace when Cora presents Lady Rose to The King and Queen, Goldsmith’s College, as well as the beach at West Wittering in Sussex and Basildon Park in Berkshire, which was used for the interiors of the Crawley’s as yet previously unseen London residence.

| I have tried Rabbit ears but they don't do the trick to many trees around the house. My local satellite company gives you 5 channels for free but the dish doesn't work on our roof cause of to many trees so even a roof top Antenna wouldn't help. But i read online now season 4 is coming out in January. I also read season 5 might be their last season i hope thats not the case | |

| Jacob I added you to the Downton Abbey US Fan page. Go to the top of the page just under the picture to the tab that says FILES. Click that and then look for the entry that says Season 4, Episodes 1-8. When you click on it it should open up a full screen of the show. If it doesn't and only opens a small screen, click the blue "OPEN" box on the bottom right. All of the episodes that have aired are there. The Christmas Episode airs on Wednesday but won't be posted there until Thursday. I knew that you would love the show. I'm addicted to it, big time. | |

| Yes yes, share with your friends. You need someone to talk to about this show! Enjoy series 4. I think the part about Christmas that I'm looking forward to most is the DA special. It airs here at 3:30 so I will catch it with my VPN. | |
