| About the extras on the new Blu-Ray releases. Are there also some of the older extras resp. are there any other extras besides the 40th anniversary documentation (or whatever it is)? Today I got my new multiregional Blu-Ray Player, therefore I'll watch the extras and probably one or two episodes. Of course only if all goes as planned. | |

| Season 5 is coming out April 14. The quality has been excellent on these releases and doesn't vary from season to season like the old DVDs did. http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Little-House-Prairie-Season-5/20706I did some more comparison shots between the old DVDs and the HD restoration using scenes from The Lord is My Shepherd. | So after days of our current TV flickering and finally dying, we got a new TV. This one has a Motion Plus feature which is a feature that you can turn off and on. When it's on, it makes the image more realistic. Some people call it "the soap opera effect" and there are many people who don't like it because it makes a movie look more realistic and not like a "movie". Anyway, I decided to watch Castoffs and Times of Change on this TV and turned on Auto Motion Plus... and wow!!! It's crazy how it makes this look! I honestly felt like I was right there behind the camera seeing it filmed. I never saw Laura, Mary, Charles, etc... so realistic looking... I felt like I was there in Simi Valley watching the show being filmed, felt like I was actually inside the little house ... I recorded a clip... but for some reason the colors are off on this video and do not match the more natural colors on the TV... but at least to give you a small idea... here is a clip... (I'm not sure if you'll see it because I got a message saying it was blocked due to copyright)... https://youtu.be/IH59x8NFjYkDo any of you have this feature? Have you watched an episode with this feature on?? I'd like to hear what you think | |

| Last night, I finally sat down and put one of the old DVD's into my laptop and at the same time put the new remastered in my TV. Watched them both at the same time to really determine what scenes were new.
I watched Barn Burner from season five. There is an integral scene just before Larrabee sells his wheat at a lower price which explains why he really did it.
He has a racial confrontation with Joe Kagen inside the mercantile with Harriet watching.
Interesting to see. The whole scene was cut from TV and the old DVD............................... "Albert, do you REALLY think you are old enough to know what love is?" "I must be Pa. I love you, I have for a long time."

| I have watched both at the same time before and noticed that most of the time they were just played at different speeds with sometimes no scenes cut at all. I had to keep pausing one while the other one caught up. | |

- Hmmm that is interesting. Why would the blu-ray release get the extra scenes and or slower playback? It's not like there isn't enough room to fit that on a DVD, although it would take more DVDs overall. But slower playback just seems strange to me.. what is the point?
LIWnut - Does the slower playback look weird when watching? I always thought the DVDs played at the perfect speed, and I can't imagine seeing it any slower. The remastered Blu-rays and DVDs actually play at the proper speed and have extra scenes because the original 35mm film was used as the source. The syndicated episodes on TV were copied from videotape and many episodes are slightly sped up and many have also had scenes cut to add time for commercials. The company that put out the old DVDs was given the syndication copies and that's why the old DVDs are sped up and have missing scenes, although not as many as TV because the TV stations usually make additional cuts. I've noticed that the sped up episodes on the old DVDs are about 3 seconds per minute faster than the remastered episodes. It isn't a huge difference in speed, but it is noticeable during a side by side comparison and is sometimes noticeable in their voices. So in the remastered episodes where there are no extra scenes, the Blu-ray episodes usually run slightly over two minutes longer than the old DVDs and in the episodes where there are extra scenes, the Blu-ray episodes run 3-4 minutes longer.

- Interesting. I wonder if I have the remastered DVDs.. the quality seems to be really good, and most of the episodes are 46 to 47 minutes long. I bought the complete 9 season set that came out in 2011. Any idea if that one would be remastered or not? I tried to look on the box to see, but couldn't find anything about that.
The remastered versions were released on both Blu-ray and DVD and didn't start coming out until last year when season one was released on March 25th. So far the first four seasons are available and season 5 is scheduled to be released on April 14. They all say "Deluxe Remastered Edition" in a gold strip near the top. The remastered season one episodes run 48 to 49 minutes and I think the rest of the remastered seasons have similar run times.

| I love seeing the uncut epsisodes. Today, I watched The Creeper Of Walnut Grove and To Run and Hide. Right now, Hallmark is showing I'll Be Waving As You Drive Away. I turned it on just as Jonathan was telling Seth that Mary is going blind. | |

You will see re-mastered versions for the complete show. Seasons One Through Nine..........and probably the three movies, Look Back, Farewell and Bless All The Dear Children....... "Albert, do you REALLY think you are old enough to know what love is?" "I must be Pa. I love you, I have for a long time."

| I ended up watching 3 episodes yesterday. I'm looking forward to season 5 to see that cutie Albert. I like how he and Laura bonded. No mater how many times I wtch the show, I will never get tired of watching it. When Charles told Mary she was going blind, I'm surprised she didn't get upset with him for not having told her right away. I know Charles was in denial when Dr. Burke told him that Mary is going to go blind, but I think he should have told her. I'm surprised the doctor didn't tell Mary. | |

| I can not wait to start doing drawings from these dvds. The images are SO clear. I LOVE that one of Albert. It is the lack of Christianity that has brought us where we are. Not a lack of churches or religious forms but of the real thing in our hearts. LIW.....Words From a Fearless Heart | |

| I'm not to sure if this was bought up in the past or not. I watch Lord is my Shepherd last night. Did anyone notice the bell was not on the school or the church yet. I wonder if this episode was out of order should been before The Voice of Tinker Jones. So I'm halfway through season 1 now.
