| Hi gang If you are reading this, that means you are connected to the internet and have come to the prairie to play. :sillySmiley: A lot of us lived in the time when we didn't have internet. I am 30 years old but I remember that the 80s & early 90s were free of internet for me and yes... they were more active as well... lol My question, how has the internet affected your life? If there was no internet, what would you be doing right now? ============== I love the internet, it has it's good and bad sides and I have experienced both. I like it because you can get access to information in seconds... but the bad thing is, it can also become addicting and make you want to be on it too much. There were times when I would be in chat rooms and staying up till 1 or 2am talking... (this was when I was around 24 or 25 I think). I sort of lived for the computer and was missing out on a lot of fun w/ actual live friends but that's changed now... I only like to be on it when necessary and also a few hours for playtime, but nowhere near as how much I used to be on it. If there was no internet, what would I be doing? Well, i'm still at work, so I would be working actually... I would be reading the newspaper because my bosses are gone. How about you guys? | |

| I love my computer and don't know how I survived before I got it!! I pay most of my bills online, was able to reconnect with people from high school and I just love being able to go online and look up information on just about any topic. | |

| The internet gives me something to do when I am bored. However, I think I am addicted because it's so hard for me to stay away from. It did however let me meet some wonderful people and find some great research. If I didn't have the internet, I'd probably be watching tv or talking on the phone. Beckie LETS GO PENS! | |

| Since I started at university I beganto rely on the internet - It's expected that yougo online at least once a day. But i actually don't mind to have no acces for a couple of weeks - at least as long as I know that there's no really important message waiting for me. Anyway, i like the internet for getting information easily, being able to buy online almost everything you can imagine (at least if I had the money) and being able to meet people, especially these "interest groups" What I don't like is when people think they can email me an urgent issue and expect that I read these emails within 24 hours. I'd rather have people give me a phonecall in these cases. Oh, and if I weren't on the internet right now i probably would be reading |

| Well, I would probably be at the library doing research for an interview or article I need to write. Gee, I'm glad I don't have to do that. Imagine still having to search through reels of microfilm to find what I need. UGH! Makes me appreciate what writers prior to the Internet age had to deal with.

| I'm not addicted. I can quit any time I want. Really. I can. *hands tremble*
If there wasn't an internet, I'd be helping Al Gore invent it.
Seriously, I'd probably be reading books more than I am right now.

:Hahaha: Larry! If I wasn't on the internet, I'd probably be doing some cross-stitching or working on a quilt block....or I'd be reading, or outdoors biking.......or doing some home repairs.....there's always something to do! Gotta keep busy. | |
