Someone gave me a bunch of John Denver's music lately, and it was like being taken back to my childhood. My Mom and my Aunt Dawn were both VERY big fans of his music. I've always loved this one. (Among others.)

Dave, I don't think I'd heard that one before. Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks for that John Denver song, Dave! I've never heard that one before. It's good!
I heard this song by ELO the other day, and noticed there were some parts very similar to Huey Lewis's "Do You Believe in Love." I've looked at the history of both songs and no where does it say that Huey sampled some lines from ELO's song...but it sounds like he did! Both great songs either way...but what do you think? Did Huey sample ELO? (Listen to ELO's "Sweet Talkin' Woman" first).

Boy, it sure sounds like it!
As a Beatles junkie, I'm surprised that I only heard about the following a couple years ago. The Beatles were sued by Chuck Berry over the resemblance of their "Come Together" to his "You Can't Catch Me." Apparently no one really noticed until Lennon mentioned in an interview that he'd "borrowed" the line "here come old flat-top" from Chuck's song. Then people began noticing that the tune was ripped off, too.

Remember this famous lawsuit? The estate of the man who wrote "He's so Fine" (he had already passed on) sued George Harrison for "My Sweet Lord." The songs DO sound alike! Personally though, I think George's song is MUCH, much better...but that's just my opinion.

Remember it well! I like George's better, too.
Jules, I'm sure you've heard this song...
Imagine my surprise when I was browsing through a book of poetry, and found this poem called "Cradle Song," written in 1603:
Golden slumbers kiss your eyes, Smiles awake you when you rise ; Sleep, pretty wantons, do not cry, And I will sing a lullaby, Rock them, rock them, lullaby. Care is heavy, therefore sleep you, You are care, and care must keep you ; Sleep, pretty wantons, do not cry, And I will sing a lullaby, Rock them, rock them, lullaby.
I thought I'd made a HUGE discovery... until I found out that it was a matter of public record that Paul had based his song on this poem.

Awesome songs, Dave! I never heard any of those 2 by Meryl...and I love "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted." I always thought that was a good question!
I especially love that combination of my two all time favorite shows: Little House & Partridge Family! I forgot which PF episode that song is from. Long live the 70's!!
