| Now that you mention it, I usually add more garlic than the recipe calls for, too. Don't you love how your hands smell after you peel a bunch of cloves? | |

- SUN PICKLES
Ingredients:
pickling cukes (enough to fill a gallon jar) 4 cups water 2 cups white vinegar 8 heads of dill (or more if desired) 6 cloves of garlic 1/2 cup of kosher salt (or less if desired) 1/2 teaspoon of alum
Directions:
Put garlic cloves in gallon jar, then fill with cucumbers, adding heads of dill so that they're spread randomly among the cukes.
Combine water, vinegar, kosher salt and alum; mix until ingredients are thoroughly dissolved. Pour mixture into jar. If it isn't quite filled all the way, top off with water.
Put the jar in a sunny location and let it set for three days, after which the pickles are ready to eat. They refrigerate well and will keep all summer. I have never heard of these..They sound really good. I'm gonna have to make some. |
