I was popping in here to share a picture, and some news. Some of you already know about it, so please forgive the repetition. HeeHee

After I won the Anne of Green Gables art competition, I was contacted by a group who will be publishing a book of fan letters. They're letters that fans will be writing - letters that they wish that they'd written to Jonathan Crombie (Gilbert Blythe) before he passed away. Then it's going to be published as a book and presented to Jonathan's parents and sisters. The group was going to hire a professional artist for the job, but then they saw my drawing of Anne & Matthew, and contacted me to see if I would be interested in being part of the project by doing the cover art for the book! ( thud

) They thought that since it's fan letters, that fan art would be a great way to go. I told them absolutely YES! HeeHee

I'm so thrilled and honored to be asked! SO. . . here's Gilbert - and if any of you notice anything that needs a little adjusting, I haven't sealed it yet, so please feel free to let me know. I so want this to be just right for Jonathan's parents and sisters!:

Thank you, Teresa! I'm really excited about the project - though, I do wish that it was under more cheerful circumstances. I just hope that his parents and sisters are comforted by the words of so many people who Jonathan touched with just ONE character that he portrayed. If that had been the only film he'd ever worked on, it still would have been a beautiful legacy to leave behind.

Sweet Savannah, your drawing is amazing and it's so nice that someone thought of this project to remember Jonathan. His father, David Crombie, is a former mayor of Toronto and I've seen him in the news lately along with other former mayors. It will be cool to think that next time I see him, he may have received and admired your handiwork.

Thank you, Marilyn! I remembered having read, years ago, that Jonathan's dad was a former mayor of Toronto - and that he was VERY well-liked, too.

One of the people heading up the project asked if it was okay to share the drawing with someone who had been close to Jonathan...She didn't say who, but she's going to be passing a copy of it on to them soon.

The book came back from the publisher yesterday. Rob has seen this already, but I wanted to share it here, too. I'm so thrilled! The original plan was for the drawing to be the cover art, but the editor decided on a plain, lettered cover, and my drawing is the opening page:
