What Old Wives Tales/ Supertitions have you heard of?

If you bite your tongue while eating, it is because you have recently told a lie.

Before slicing a new loaf of bread, make the sign of the cross on it.

It's good luck to find a four-leaf clover

Don't step on a crack on a sidewalk or walkway.

The old, it's bad luck if a black cat crosses your path.

Never walk under a ladder.

And that's all I can think of before coffee.

If your ear rings, someone is thinking of you.

If the palm of your hand itches, you'll be receiving some money.

That's all I can think of right now.

If you spill some salt your supposed to thow a pinch over your shoulder.

If your nose itches, someone thinking of you.

Knocking on wood.

I'd never heard of those first two, Susie!

I don't believe any of these, but these are some that my Grandma quite often would say.......Let's see......if your left hand itches, you'll have an unexpected bill to pay. If your right hand itches, you'll be receiving unexpected money.

If your nose itches, you'll kiss a fool.

If the cows are laying down in the field, it's going to rain.

If a bird flies into your windshield, someone that you know will die soon.

It's bad luck to pick up a coin if the "tales" side is facing up.

If your right ear itches, someone is speaking well of you. If your left ear itches someone is speaking ill of you.

If you're ...uh...under the same circumstances...you can't go near a stud horse neither. He'll rear and buck and you can't control him. This I know as fact.

And if you split open a persimmon seed, if it has a fork shape in the middle, it'll be a mild winter; if it's a spoon shape it'll be a harsh winter.

Oh, and if you're me, your furnace will mess up in the middle of a spoon-shaped persimmon seed winter.

Then what the heck would you do if the seed was shaped as a fork & spoon at the same time??? Either spoon or fork, I need to get some better heating around here!

It's exhausting being me. Yawn

I wonder why sometimes when you edit a post it shows that "last edited" thing, and other times it doesn't.

It depends on how quickly you edit it. If someone else has already posted after you, and you edit it, then it will show up as edited. If nobody else has posted, then usually it won't show as edited.
