The return of the swans.

Last year at the lake, we had a pair of swans and six little cygnets. Love

They were so much fun to watch all summer - and some of you may remember how much trouble I had trying to get them to let me take their picture! Well, this year we have another pair of swans. They have two surviving cygnets, and I snapped a few pictures last night when I was biking around the lake:

I couldn't believe how close this swan let me get! I wasn't even using the zoom! It flapped its wings a couple of times as if to remind me that I could look, but not touch. grinsmiley

The second baby is playing Hide and Seek in this picture. He's there, but he's hard to spot!

I love how the little cygnet on the far right has his face tilted in this picture! Laughing

Aren't those beautiful creatures?? I'm hoping to get some better shots at a different time of day when the sun isn't reflecting quite so powerfully on the lake. But these'll do for now. And I hope you didn't get too tired biking around with me. Wink

Beautiful pictures, Savannah. I'm surprised you got so close to that one.

Spring is finally here, the lovely pink blooms on the "spray" tree outside my window are gone leaving a beautiful willow.

WOW, Savannah, those are amAzing!! :adore: Ironic that this thread is here....we went to Howell on Saturday to visit friends and walked along a boardwalk at "Mill pond", and saw two swans! You just don't see them like back when we were kids, you know? I remember going up North in Traverse City as a kid and there were tons of them. They are such beautiful creatures! I wish I'd had my camera with me, but I can guarantee my pics wouldn't have turned out this good! Applause

Thank you!! I was afraid that I had lost that one: My camera batteries died JUST as I took it, and I wasn't sure that it had had enough time to save it to the SD card. I was so thrilled to see it there when I put it on my computer!
