| Okay......so some of you have probably noticed that I really enjoy both Little House and The Andy Griffith Show. (Though, I hide it well) I was going to post about this the last time I watched, then totally forgot. But, on the Andy Griffith Show, there's an episode called "Alcohol and Old Lace" about these two sisters who make moonshine. (Only they call it "elixir" and don't view it as moonshine - which makes me wonder if they were a partial inspiration for the Baldwin sisters on The Waltons) They sell it to one person who is very familiar in name - Lars Hanson! They'll only sell their "elixir" for "celebrating purposes", so he claims that he's celebrating a Muslim holiday, and they murmur: "I could have sworn that Lars Hanson was a Lutheran....." lolSo, I was trying to figure out all of the Little House cast members who were on The Andy Griffith Show. I thought it was pretty cool - the character name of Lars Hanson was on TAGS, and so was the actor who played him.Karl Swenson (Mr. Hanson) played Mr. McBeeveeDabs Greer (Rev. Alden) played Councilman Dobbs (as well as a grouchy, battling husband who got a chicken thrown at him )Richard Bull (Nels Oleson) was in an episode - but I can't remember which one. I'm still watching for more of them. It's interesting to see them in different roles. Karl Swenson looked so young on the Mr. McBeevee episode.
Now I should do the reverse, and look for all of the TAGS alumni who appeared on Little House. One I can think of right off hand is Betty Lynn, who played Barney's girlfriend Thelma Lou. She played on the episode "If I Should Die Before I Wake" as Amy Hearn's daughter, Bridget.LOL - I was recovering from the flu Monday, and had to stay in bed.......so I had all this time on my hands to think  - and you all are paying for it now. LOL!!

| Really?!?!?!? You love Little House AND The Andy Griffith Show??? Wow, I'd never have known that hadn't you just posted it! *LOL*
I love watching all of the old shows and seeing some of the Little House cast on them. The other two shows that I can think of that I've frequently seen Little House cast on are The Walton's and Bonanza.

| I remember in a few episodes of the Waltons I saw some LHOTP characters: Ketty Lester, Victor French and the young boy who played Solomon. I'm sure there were more, who am I missing? | |

| We would've never guessed Savannah that you're an Andy Griffith Show fan! LOL
I remember seeing Karl Swenson and Dabs Greer both in Bonanza in two different episodes, they were both so young there. "Within the heart of every stray, lies the singular desire to be loved."

| Great post, Savannah! I can't believe I didn't recognize Karl Swenson as Mr. McBeevee. And I must've seen that episode 20 times! It's one of my favorites. And it was only recently that I recognized Dabbs Greer in the ep where Barney got involved in real estate. He had a fairly big role as a guy who, with his wife, was thinking of buying the Taylor house. I didn't know that Richard Bull was on TAGS! Now we gotta find out which ep. Is your flu all better now? Hope so. | |

| Yeah, the Mr. McBeevee ep is great. I love Andy's line...
Barney: "Are you saying you believe in Mr. McBeevee?" Andy: "No. I do believe in Opie."
Gets me right there every time.
And as you said, the ending is so good. I love how Andy is just so over-the-top, pumping Mr. McBeevee's hand: "You don't know how glad I am to meet you!" I think the viewers feel the same sense of relief that the character did.

Good! Glad to hear it! Another ep I really like from that period is "Opie's Hobo Friend," the one with Buddy Ebsen. It's so well-written. And I really like Buddy's character - there's something very wild and dangerous about him that seems out of place with the Mayberry we know. I like the different feel of it. And I like how they take any chance at being overly-sentimental and nip it, nip it in the bud! Andy: "Look, I want to thank you for..." Buddy: "Sheriff, like you said, I have a train to catch." It works so perfectly. And what's Buddy's character's name on that show??

| We were having the same discussion on the Diva site the other day. We were talking about LHOP actors on other shows. Victor's and Ketty's name came up, and I think Charlotte Stewart was also in an episode of the Waltons.
I think the biggest shock to me was seeing Miss Beadle in the movie Tremors, especially since she had short hair. I sat there saying, I know that face. It took me a few minutes to figure it out.

Cheryl I know how you feel. I didn't catch it until the third or fourth time I watched it.

(I probably started to and then was interrupted) His character's name is Dave Browne. Funny, I wouldn't have remembered that, even though I love the episode. (I looked online or I wouldn't have known) The way it was written and directed, it really did work perfectly, didn't it.

| I never made the connection about Thelma! I knew I recognized her, but just thought it was because I've seen that episode a thousand times. What would we do without you? If you hadn't gotten sick, decided to watch, I would have never known. WOW. There was alot of LH cast on the Waltons too. Charlotte Stewart for one.... It is the lack of Christianity that has brought us where we are. Not a lack of churches or religious forms but of the real thing in our hearts. LIW.....Words From a Fearless Heart | |

| I watch Roseanne and Dabbs Greer is in the episode called Lobo Cop. He's sitting at a bar of all places. Spring is finally here, the lovely pink blooms on the "spray" tree outside my window are gone leaving a beautiful willow. | |

| Yes. I've seen LHOTP actors in "Bonanza", but since I never saw "The Griffith Show", I never noticed some of the actors of KHOTP were also there. Good info, Savannah! Vanesa. | |
