“THE CAMPOUT”

"THE CAMPOUT" TreeLine

When Ms. Beadle assigns a leaf-gathering project to her students, Mary and Laura are excited to find all kinds of unique leaves on an upcoming camping trip with the family. Determined to see her own children receive equal opportunities, Harriet convinces her husband to let their family tag along with the Ingalls'. Although the two families have a difficult time adjusting to this extended period of time together, they gradually come to have a deeper respect for one another--but that doesn't mean that Nellie, Willie, and Harriet won't be traveling home with a less-than-desirable surprise.

"THE CAMPOUT" Report A great episode! I love Harriett on this one. She really is too funny. :Hahaha: I love seeing Caroline’s face expression as she sees and hears Mrs. Oleson, Caroline looks like she wants to laugh out loud but holds it in. Nellie was a brat on this episode, very winey when Laura was helping her out of the water… Laura really showed her patience lol. I like the moment Caroline and Harriet shared when they where waiting for their girls… but alas… all that vanished as soon as the girls came and Nellie accused Laura of pushing her into the water.

Okay, there is one thing I don’t get. How come Ms. Beadle could not tell that the Oleson kids had turned in some poison ivy leaves? Mary identified it quickly… Ms Beadle I’m sure have had to read up on leaves recently as she assigned the project… but she still couldn’t tell… lol

Anyway, a fun episode. Two thumbs up for all around fun.
Thumbsup :sillySmiley:

This is such a cute epsiode with a mixture of drama; Nellie and Laura on the log in the river rapids, and comedy; Harriett bringing her tea set along which gets broke when she falls!!! GOOD EPIE! Thumbsup

Katherine MacGregor's expressions throughout this whole episode are so good, and the pics you caught are wonderful......Look at her face!!! ROTFL

Yea, I loved this episode too.

I love how Harriet, at the beginning of the episode, tries to guilt Nels into taking his children and when he realizes she means for him to go alone, he pretends he agrees with her just so he can get away without her lol

Charles reaction when he realizes Harriet is going along on the campout is hilarious too. :)

I remember the first time I watched this episode I was so mad that the Olesons invited themselves to the Ingall's camping trip. Pretty soon I was laughing pretty hard at Harriet!

I never did understand why Miss Beadle didn't recognize the poison ivy. :b

I absolutely loved this one! Like someone else said earlier I loved Charles face when he realizes Mrs. Oleson is going on the camp out. Caroline was very nice to set up the tent for Harriet then make it seem like Mrs. Oleson did it all herself.

I like this one a lot too. It was fun watching Harriet and Nellie trying to rough it -- "Don't forget your parasol!" :haha: Nellie Oleson at her worst -- trying to blame Laura for pushing her in after Laura rescued her.

One question I had about this episode -- when Charles finds out that Harriet is coming along, he and Caroline go into the barn and Charles says he flat out refuses to go camping with "that woman". The next thing we see, the Olesons are hiking up the path following the Ingalls. I saw this on Hallmark, and knowing how Hallmark cuts episodes, I suspect they cut out something. My question is, what changed Charles's mind?

If I recall, there is a part where Caroline tells him that he needed to be a good sport. Charles had to convince Laura that she could get along with Nellie for a short time....and now he is unwilling to try.....I THINK Caroline told him he needed to basically practice what he was preaching............. :haha:

I saw the episode on DVD and John, that is the same thing I see as well...
Charles says he refuses to go... and the next shot is of them in the mountains... LOL
I think it was meant to be a funny scene... it made me laugh seeing Charles' face and the next shot was of them walking together. Laughing

Haha Harriet was hilarious in this episode but it was really sweet of her trying to do the best she could with the cooking and putting up the tent. We finally got to see the "human" side of her, right until the end. Then she became herself again

Charles was quite funny in this episode. I particularly loved the conversation he and Caroline were having in the barn when he was refusing to go on the trip because of Mrs Oleson.

Caroline: You'll miss your fishing.
Charles: With that woman on the trip there won't be a fish biting for 9 miles in any direction. ROTFL

I also loved the part where Nels jumps over the river and Harriet follows but falls backwards and smashes the China tea set! Her face was a picture when Nels asked if she'd broken anything. "Only the tea service, dear." :haha:

Hilarious stuff.

Why do I feel like scratching my face right now, im starting to itch just looking at this. It was a good episode, the funniest part to me was when Mrs Olsen showed up at the Ingalls with Willie and Nellie and said that she would carry the tea service. The look on Charles face when he found out she was comming to.

I also laughed when Nellie and Laura fell into the river and were insulting each other while floating and trying to get out...Nellie's screaming was particulary unbearable! :haha:

This episdoe really shows the funny side to Michael Landon. It also shows the talent of Katherine M. and Richard Bull (He has the best facial reactions!).
