| HI there ,,, I love this episode, very rarely do we see Mary actually part of the naughty stuff ...she really struggled for a minute with her concious ...i thought she would cave and tell what she knew of the poison ivy...even funnier in the end with Miss Beadle having a scratch and Mary still uneasy with it |

This always bugged me from this episode. lol How could Ms. Beadle not identify right away the poison ivy and Mary & Laura did? I mean, Ms. Beadle was the teacher who assigned the studes this 'leaf project', so it surprises me that Ms. Beadle not notice the poison ivy.

| It could be that Miss Beadle was a city girl. She may have been aware of the leaves of the trees, but not been familiar with poison ivy. Mary and Laura, being COUNTRY girls (*insert Nellie-tone* ) would have been familiar with it. But more likely..........the writers didn't think that anyone would think twice about it. :Hahaha: | |

| it served the Oleson family right to get poison ivy after barging in on the Ingalls's camping trip! why did Charles have to be so kind and allow them to come along? | |

- One question I had about this episode -- when Charles finds out that Harriet is coming along, he and Caroline go into the barn and Charles says he flat out refuses to go camping with "that woman". The next thing we see, the Olesons are hiking up the path following the Ingalls. I saw this on Hallmark, and knowing how Hallmark cuts episodes, I suspect they cut out something. My question is, what changed Charles's mind?
Caroline worked her womanly charms on him. It happens a lot on TV: a man will refuse to do something, the woman will tell him he's going to do it, he refuses, and then you see him doing it. I doubt anything was cut.
Anyway, this is my second favorite season two episode. Everything about it is funny. |

| HAHAHAHAHAHAHA this is really funny(Along with Ma's holiday)! City/polite Harriet talking with food in her mouth! And Nellie and Harriet with parasols! Has anyone noticed after Harriet falls backward, her parasol looks broken/bent? Nellie's whining is unbearable... And once again Mary(MSA) has her great shocked look. What is that white stuff willie/nellie/harriet have put on? | |

| Yes...I've also wondered about Miss Beadle not noticying poison ivy...It's quite unbelievable, since as a teacher she must have studied all the leaves their pupils will bring. If not..How could she qualify their work? Vanesa. | |

| I really, really loved this episode right up to the part where Nellie and Laura are in the river. That part went on way too long, and Nellie's screaming got to be a bit much. But it was fun to watch the stunt people. Also, in the scene where Charles and Nels go looking for them and have to cross the river on a big log, if you look to the right you see another person come into the scene for just a moment!
I have to say that Harriet and Nels are just such terrific characters. Really, the whole Oleson family. I'm so glad they have them as a part of this show. I like how Nels is really even impressed with Harriet, and she really was trying hard.
I think this episode also shows that Willie is not such a bad little guy. He is just pushed around by Nellie and believes what she tells him.
It was surprising that it seemed like Laura wanted to tell Pa about the poison ivy while Mary didn't! That seemed like a role reversal to me.

| I suspect back in earlier times a "holy day" (holiday) was the only time people ever took a rest (vacation) because they had to work so hard just to do the daily chores of living without all the modern conveniences. So it would make sense that the only time they got a vacation was on a "holiday" and maybe that is why the word "holiday" meant something similar to "vacation"? I don't have any proof of this....just hypothesizing. | |

| Funny episode. I love the expression on Charles Ingalls & Nels Olsen face. When Harriet mentions she's going camping. | |

| Poor Nels thought he was going to get a little vacation from Harriet and then she went and changed his plans. I know he does love her, but I think he needs a break from her occasionally. | |
