That is so true! I never thought of it that way.

Some of the things that I was worried about have turned out to be nothing anyway.

Jake is in San Antonio, TX. He went yesterday. He is there for his refresher course on handling his gun. Strange thing is, he was there 5 years ago to the date with his Basic Military Training when he first joined.....He is really excited about this stage in his life and I pray he stays safe.

Thank God for Skype. I know this has to feel like an eternity right now, Rhonda, when you think of it in terms of 'holidays' like that.

That is really awesome that he loves it so much...just think how miserable you'd be if you knew he was where he didn't want to be? At least he is going in excited and prepared for this. As his mama, I'm sure that makes all the difference!

It's wonderful that he is so excited about all of his retraining and deployment. I'll pray for his safety and lots of seeing him and talking to him on Skype.

Asking for prayers for my Jake as he heads to El Paso, TX today for continued training and then to Qatar in October. He will be deployed for 6 months and will be greatly missed! This momma is NOT liking this at all!!!

Shortly after I posted the above post, I received a text from Josh, my youngest son. He was all excited and wanted me to know that he will be heading to Afghanistan around December 2013/January 2014 for 6 months. I had barely got myself composed from knowing that I won't be seeing Jake until April 2013 and Josh drops this bomb on me....oh, did I mention that Jake will be going with him?!?!?!? Stop the world, I want off.....

Awful news, Rhonda...I know how are you feeling. I'll be praying for your two boys...and for you, my dear one.

Alright.....either reserve a rubber room for me at the funny farm or stop the world and let me off. I have now found out that Jake is actually going to Afghanistan..... First to Qatar to get his mission, then on to Afghanistan....Here is what he had to say......


I go to Qatar to get my mission. Then Afghanistan for work. Qatar is just a hub. The entire middle east is protesting right now. Why do you think I'm doing army combat training? Lol. I've already ran 300 rounds thru my rifle and qualified on the 240b machine gun, gone thru evasion training, survival training, combat radio, and combat medic training. I'll be moving all throughout the middle east. I'm with a red horse unit. We never stay still. We're always outside the wire providing our own security and escorts. We're the elite of the civil engineers.
