ELEPHANT EARS!! I was cravin' one just last week. Growing up in Michigan they used to have them all the time when the carnivals and fairs came through. Cinnamon and sugar were sprinkled on top after being buttered. Dang, now I'm craving them again. Thanks P.G. A couple of days ago I really, REALLY wanted a Monte Cristo sandwich. SO I MADE ONE!! We didn't have any turkey breast so I substituted bacon. Ham, turkey, provolone (or Swiss) cheese between 2 pieces of sliced bread then battered and deep fried. Top with powdered sugar. It's my favorite sandwich of all time. Dang, now I want another one! "Willie, were you or were you not looking at the corsett ads in the catalogue?" - Nels

| Thank you for posting the recepie link.
I wonder once it's fried if you can put pizza sauce and toppings on it and heat it with toppings in the oven?

| Well at the fairs they put hot pizza sauce on it, I suppose it you wanted to warm others in the oven it would be fine.I wouldn't do it for long since the crust is cooked. | |

Yeah, no kidding---thanks Prairie Girl! It used to be you could only get these at carnivals around here, but now they're even offered at football games! They. Are. So. Utterly. Sinful. - Joe wrote:

Ham, turkey, provolone (or Swiss) cheese between 2 pieces of sliced bread then battered and deep fried. Top with powdered sugar. It's my favorite sandwich of all time. Dang, now I want another one! That is my sons' favorite thing on the planet....they adore Bennigan's Monte Cristos. And guess what they just closed up by our house? Bennigans. They are beyond bummed. Not that we went often, but it was nice for a treat. I've never tried making one myself....maybe I'll attempt it, for their sakes! - Kamberly wrote:
- I would love a big cheeseburger right now
That looks suspiciously like a Five Guys burger. Seriously, you haven't had a cheesburger until you've had one of theirs. It's insane. We have one on our MSU campus near my church, and let me tell you, I have to call on all the angels and saints to keep me out of there! Hmm, what do I crave? Probably most of the time it's ice cream. That's my serious weakness. Hudsonville Peanut Butter chip= . And, when my son is home from college, ice cream is always in the freezer....he is a connoisseur like his mama. But he's tall and lean and can 'afford' it. Unfortunately, I can't. So it's a good thing he just went back to school, because I can finally get my healthy eating plan going again. Pretty bad when your own son is your food trigger!

| You have a good eye for cheeseburgers Amy! That is a Five Guys cheeseburger. We don't have any around here. (which is good for my waistline) Anytime I travel I look to see if they have a Five Guys. | |

| PEOPLE! STOP!! Or maybe I need to stop reading this thread. I think I gained 5 pounds just by reading these posts. 5 Guys Burgers and Fries makes burgers the way God intended; Down and dirty, greasy and cheesy. In 'n Out cannot compare. (in my opinion)
Rob, it is amazing when I eat at my mom and dads house. Dishes, flatware, glasses...some of them I remember from over 30 years ago!! A few years ago I pulled out a teeny tiny little spoon out of the silverware drawer and showed it to my mum. She said that was my baby food spoon. WHY DOES SHE STILL HAVE IT??
