| My parents are both 60, and are facing the task of getting new health insurance. I know that can be difficult at any age, but b/c they're a bit up in age, one of the companies they were applying to requested them to get physicals. Since my father's bout of depression over the winter, he's had a physical recently enough to count for this, but my mother hasn't gone in years. So she went for one this past Monday, and on Wednesday, the doctor's office called to tell her they had found a trace amount of blood in a urine test they did. It wasn't enough for her to notice anything was wrong prior to this, but now she's very worried. The doctor's office recommended her to see a urologist, and said they would make the arrangements, but so far they haven't contacted her and when she's called, she hasn't gotten a hold of anyone. It's very frustrating, and she is convinced that something serious is wrong. Because of the run-around the doctor's office is giving her with setting up an appointment with the specialist, my father and I want her to get another test, just to make sure there wasn't some kind of error. I had something similiar happen to me with bloodwork 5 years ago, and it turned out to be only lab error. She just seems so hopeless about it, and it scares me too - she never goes for a physical, yet when she finally does something shows up. Maybe this is a sign, so that it's caught now and something can be done before it does turn into something serious. Could you please pray with me for my mother's health, that this turns out to be nothing serious? I would really appreciate it.

| I'll be praying, Christina. My mom had a similar problem a couple months ago. She found blood in her urine. It turned out to be nothing more than a bladder infection. Antibiotics cleared it right up. | |

| Christina, I will be praying for your mom. I hope that she can take another test soon. Hopefully she can get a hold of her doctor, and when she does, I would let them know that the run-around has been very unappreciated. They should have made her an appt. right away, like they said they would. Please keep us updated on how things are going. | |

| Your mom is in my prayers, Christina.
As Rob said, it could be an infection. The same thing happened to me when I was pregnant with Kelsey, except there was a lot blood. It turned out to be an infection that was easily cleared up with antibiotics. I hope that's all it is for your mom too. | |

| I would call another Dr. She should not have to wait until October 9th. It's not even Septemeber yet. When I had to call for my husband, my Dr's office would not take him until 2 weeks after I made the call, stating he was a new patient, but when I first started going there, they never said to wait and I was new at one time too, and not long before he wanted to go. He went to the ER for something else, and found out he had type 2 diabetes. He should not have had to go to the ER for his problem. Stupid Dr's sometimes! So much could have happened in that 2 weeks. Not only was his sugar close to 400, he found out he had high blood pressure as well. I would call someone else. Best of luck to your mom! |

| My mother had two more urine tests done in between August and her appointment with specialist October 9th, and both of them came back good - no traces of anything. So we were all thinking maybe the whole incident was just cause of a lab error or something simple, but now, the test she had done with the specialist showed something on her left kidney. The doctor said he couldn't tell what it was, and wants to have another test (a CAT scan I believe), done to make it clearer. I am really worried about this, especially since we had to wait so darn long for her to get in with this doctor in the first place. The nurse my father spoke to said it may just be a cyst, in which case they wouldn't do anything for her anyway. I hope that's all it is. She feels normal, hasn't had any pain or other symptoms, but I would appreciate your prayers again that she is okay. She has the test Wednesday morning, and hopefully we'll get the results quickly. | Oh, your poor Mom. My Mom is claustrophobic, too. That makes those tests all the more difficult for them! Can she check with other hospitals in the surrounding area? There are MRI tests that are done in the upright position now, and aren't as enclosed, so they aren't nearly as panic-inducing. Maybe there's one within driving distance that offers those kind of MRIs. | |

| Sorry I missed this prayer request Christina. I will be praying for your mom too, and I'll be anxious to hear what you find out.
On another note, I'm sending you a PM with an article on Alzheimers---I know your grandma suffers like mine did. There's some interesting new information I found.
Take care! “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
