A few drawings...

Oh tell the full story, Savannah!

I really am excited about it!

Last week I decided that I wanted to do a portrait of Caroline/Karen for Maureen....I had the picture picked out and was going to surprise her. Then I thought that maybe I should let Maureen pick the photo of Karen....So I sent her a PM, and explained what I wanted to do, and asked her to choose one . . . and when she sent me her favorite picture, it was the exact one I'd been going to draw in the first place. I love that! So, the portrait is going to leave for Ireland tomorrow morning, and will travel with Maureen to San Francisco, where Maureen plans to give it to Karen! I'm so excited that something I made is going to be a small part of that moment!

And I'm going to be on pins and needles until that portrait is safely in your hands, Maureen!

You're the best, you know that? Truly. That was really thoughtful of you Savannah, and considering this is you we're talking about, I am not surprised. I am sure Maureen will be so proud to give the portrait to Karen!

I mailed out the portrait this morning, and the post man said that it should take 5-10 days to get to you.

I'd have to say, I have a hubby who would fit that 'title' too! He loves to 'wind me up', but it's what's made it fun this last couple decades too. (I try to remember that each time I'm ready to give him the pan! ).

Wow, I'm behind! These last few you've done I hadn't seen. You are doing great with the color. I might get back into that, but for now I'm loving the graphite pencil.

I'm totally in love with both mediums. It's kind of funny....I'd done several pictures in a row in color, and when I went to do the graphite portrait of Karen, I was *terribly* worried that I wouldn't be able to draw in graphite anymore.

I was looking back through this thread (reminiscing ) and noticed that I hadn't posted a couple of Mayberry-related drawings....The first is Fife....Barney Fife. Fearless Fife. Mad Dog. I can't believe I didn't post FIFE here!! It's a wonder he didn't give me a ticket for that.



He was one of my very first drawings, and I was too nervous to post him. But you're all a gentle enough crowd that I can go ahead and post him. (Only two years later. What a brave soul. )

And the second one is Floyd the barber, and he went north to Rob's house.



I know that several of you have seen these on facebook, but I thought I'd post them here for those not on facebook.

Great stuff! And yes, the original Floyd is still on my wall.
