You know, I'm kinda bummed. I know she didn't 'offer' much in the way of true musical 'knowledge', but I actually came to really enjoy her humor on the show. My parents really like her too, and the three of us can sit around and get a good belly laugh from her. There's just something about her.
I woke up this morning to the 'news' on my radio station, saying something about Jessica Simpson taking Simon's spot. PLEASE say it isn't so.

Not surprised. She's not even a singer.

I elect Barney Fife. He could take care of any mischief that would happen, and keep things fair. Barney does sing right??

Yes, he does sing but NOTHING you want to hear!

I love the expressions on the face of John Masters, the conductor.

The scary thing is, this is probably ol' Barn's best musical performance on the show.

Yeah, I saw that, too, but hadn't heard who they are lining up. No to Jessica Simpson & no to J Lo, who was barely a one or two hit wonder? I heard Kara was let go, too. I know I didn't watch last season; the show's best days are definitely behind them.

I read that Ellen and Kara were out. Steven Tyler of Aerosmith may be in. There was also talk of Justin Timberlake, which I would love because he is so talented. He also has a great sense of humor. If Justin were a judge, I would definitely watch next season. Jennifer Lopez would have been good, too.
Update: I just read where it may indeed be J-Lo and Steven Tyler as the new judges. It will definitely be going back to 3 judges, which will be nice. I never liked having 4.

I thought J Lo had already signed on as a judge.

I think she has, but they haven't made it "official" yet. Same with Steven Tyler.

I'd still like to see Harry Connick Jr. as Simon's replacement. He impressed me a lot when he was a mentor.
You know, I'm not a Howard Stern fan, but when his name was being kicked around as a possible replacement, I thought he would make a good choice. Not that he's qualified to judge music, but he would've made things interesting. Lots of fireworks and controversy, no doubt.

Kara's out?! Wow, I must be living under a rock. Did she want out, or was she 'let go'? Anyone know? She actually had grown on me....
Oh my, if Steven Tyler is in, I may be out. No thank you.
I can deal with J-Lo I guess---she's likeable enough, and at least I can stand to look at her.
Sorry Rob, but no can do on Howard Stern. Blech. Ick. Barf. But I do see why you said him---he would be contraversial and would definitely tell people how it is, like Simon. But the thing is, Simon is still so likeable underneath all his abrasiveness---I can't find any redeeming qualities in Howard.
BUT, I DO agree with you about Harry Connick Jr....he's my #1 pick!!! WHY won't they go with him?!?! And Teresa, I'd be cool with J.T. too---he'd be a great judge, and he's a likeable guy too.
I am very pleased to hear they'll be back to three judges too!

This looks like the official word from Fox...
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Fox executives are remaining quiet about possible changes on "American Idol" amid reports that television's favorite show was about to welcome Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler as new judges.
Fox network chief Peter Rice said Monday there were no deals signed for new judges on the show, which is losing Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres from its panel.
Rice said some of the media speculation about the future of "American Idol" is accurate and some is "wildly inaccurate." He refused to offer any details during a presentation to reporters at the Television Critics Association summer meeting.
The revamp comes after a season in which ratings dipped, but not enough to knock "American Idol" from the No. 1 spot.

Thanks for sharing that Rob. Well, at least there's hope that Steven Tyler won't be on there.
You know, I've always liked that the judges (up until Ellen), have been rather 'obscure' people. Well, I suppose Paula wasn't. But Simon and Randy and Kara were not 'household names'. I wish they'd just go with another record producer, like Simon is.
Interesting that this article does not mention Kara.

Howard Stern....let me have that puke bowl Amy....gross.
Steven Tyler I could handle...he knows music. Ya know we NEED people that know what they are listening to. You wouldn't want someone doing a cooking show that didn't know how to cook right? Same thing.
JLo would do, Justin YES! We need some prodigies in there.

Wow, I can't even believe it. I'll give it a chance, but this may be it for me.
And LOL, I have to spend a lot of my Idol hour listening to my dad drool/rave over Kara's gorgeous brown eyes. I can only imagine what he's going to be saying about Steven Tyler.

is right. I think these older rockers would look a lot better if they had more age-appropriate hairstyles (or hairpieces... it's a bit suspicious that most of them have as much hair now as they had 30 years ago. )
The young-looking hair clashes with the old-looking face and only serves to draw more attention to the contrast.
