It is 78 degrees in Los Angeles! :faint2: The weather was perfect yesterday for the Golden Globes.
In the central valley it's 62 degrees with sunshine and clouds ... I guess it ain't so bad.
I love that in spring and early summer, but I'd be disappointed beyond words if my winter was like that. I want snow on my front yard. And LOTS of it! God knew where to put us.
He sure did my friend. lol
Actually the temperatures right now are above normal lol ... we should be in the low 50s but we are in the 60s but I'm not complaining!

I'm so relieved I'll ignore the near Fifability of that last sentence.
It's -6 here now. Looks like Teresa still has the low for today.

You're a gem. I thought I'd gotten the whole thing typed. I'm on my brother's tiny laptop, and the keyboard is the tiniest thing I've ever seen for keyboards! Then the cake timer went off, and I had to run. But don't rest too safely in your freezing temps. I AM going to win one of these dayS. :Hahaha:

We're suposed to reach a high of 17 today, 14 on Thursday and only 6 on Friday, with wind chills making Friday seem -8. Wish I had time to clear off the pond from the last snow storm. It would be great to skate on over the weekend when it makes it up to 25.
We're supposed to get some snow Thursday or Sunday. Is winter over yet?

Well.......single digits heading my way as well.......
As far as keeping your pipes from freezing, I usually crack the door on my cabinets where the pipes are located and let them have some of the heat from the house. As far as outside, make sure you unhook any hoses and you can buy some 'caps' that go over the tap to keep it insulated.
We actually had a broken pipe near the water meter one year......the ground was frozen and we had no clue whatsoever about it, and when it began to thaw, we had a little fountain going......The boys happened to see it on their way to the bus and came running back to tell us......Needless to say, a day off work was needed to fix the thing........ :sad5:

6 degrees here today. We had a two hour delay for school this morning, probably in order to let the buses warm up for awhile! I warmed up the van for a good 20 minutes before loading the kids into it!!

It was -14 here....I don't know what the wind chill was. It's supposed to be colder tonight, though. Brr!
Susie, there's also insulating tape that you can wrap your pipes with. But that's still not a guarantee. Sometimes (like last night) we have to leave the water dripping slightly all night long to keep the pipes from freezing. I leave a pitcher underneath the faucet to catch the water that drips, and use that for the cats and dog so it doesn't go to waste.
It's snowing again, too.

Fortunately (Knock on wood) we have never had frozen pipes. One of my brothers have. He too leaves water dripping, insulates his pipes. All it takes is for the temp to get in the single digits here and the lines freeze. The thought of -16 blows my mind. Plus all the snow you guys get. That would send everyone in panic in my area. Over the past few years...the most we get all winter is less than 12 inches.
One of my boys left the water hose running all night a few summers ago. We had a mini lake in our back yard.

We have never had Frozen Pipes here and it gets VERY Cold here well those people that live in those Old House Trailers I Know My Cousin she lived in a Old House Trailer and even if she would leave the water running a little it would just stop running and it would be frozen then she would have to Climb under the Trailer and Plug in a Heater and Wait the pipes were warm again

Well... I don't want to brag, and I might get the pan again from Amy, lol, but I found this video on youtube someone posted yesterday. It's from yanghaiying and it looks like she recently moved to the state and likes it lol But yeah.... I was just outside with my dogs throwing them the ball and playing with them... it's 63 here today and the warmth of the sun feels so nice that it gives me chills... lol

Okay, coldies.....Check in with your low for the night.....
Seventeen below here. ( -27 C) The windchill is about -25.
The children are on a two hour delay, thankfully. I'd hate for them to be out in this.
Edited to add....My children are on a two hour delay. The poor children here in my town are expected to be out waiting for the bus to come. No cancellations....No delays. Shame on the school district.

Wow, was that 17 below last night, or this morning?
We had -17 when I went to bed last night, but it was up to zero at morning. It sounds like you're getting more wind than we are.
