That is just sickening. Is nothing sacred anymore?!?! - Lori wrote:
- I will probably go shopping on Black Friday, but not at the ridiculously early hours. It used to be worth it to go early when the kids were little since you could get really good deals on toys, but now there is not much that we would want.
I think that's where I'm at too Lori. The boys are grown now and all they care about are electronics, which are expensive. They get one or two games and that's their Christmas! Pretty pathetic. I miss the days when they were little and there was actual quantity under the tree!

My hubby works at Best Buy and can attest to that. People wait for Black Friday but there are even better deals earlier in the previous weeks leading up to Thanksgiving and Christmas. There was an article about this that I read recently...if I find it I'll post it here. - Lisa wrote:
- The Walmart here in Ionia isn't closed at all on Thanksgiving. The only day of the year that they close is Christmas. (Walgreens doesn't even do that! They're open on Christmas day!)
Walgreens doesn't even close on Christmas?! That is disgraceful. Add Sears and Toys R Us to the list of stores opening early on T-day.

| I wouldn't mind it in a small town...but it's crazy here in Miami! Then again, what do you expect from a city who can't even get their ballots in on time? Seriously though...it's not just the crowds...it's the way they act! It's funny people behave this way on the day AFTER they are supposedly celebrating how thankful they are for everything they have! LOL I would actually LOVE to live in a small town...that would be so nice... | |

| I totally agree with you, Amy. The same thing has happened with Christmas. It's a shame! Two very beautiful holidays have turned into this... | |

| One year, when I was little. My parents, my older sister & I went to sales after Thanksgiving. We went to one store. was there for like two hours. Then, we went to other store, spend another two hours. Never again. We want go to more stores. But, only go to two stores. cause of the long lines & getting the stuff we need. So, we avoid going to Black Fridays after Thanksgiving. We get Christmas stuff before Thanksgiving. Watching Black Friday on youtube. Seeing the craziness of people trembling over just get hot item. Not worth it. You wouldn't see me standing outside by the door in freezing cold weather. Waiting something to buy. I stay away from Black Friday.
Birch Run does the midnight Black Friday. If, you wear your pjs. Get a free gift. I always want tried it. But, theirs no one willing to take me. Lot of them, don't like stay up, like I do. I'm not sure, if it's crazier like the other stores.
Next week, they will start showing the commercials on tv.
JcPenney Opens at 4:00 a.m. Come to the store for 20%-70% off. Were everyone is crazy in the store. Get your hot items before their gone. Sale ends at 1:00pm. We just love see people go coo coo for our items in the store.

| A lot has changed in the past 10 years or so. When the kids were little, I didn't like to travel on Thanksgiving or Christmas since nothing was open except maybe one lone gas station. Now there are lots of things open on Thanksgiving especially. This year we are traveling on Thanksgiving since Gary has to work until 4. We will avoid lots of traffic by going on Thanksgiving. It's such a pain to pass by East Lansing and Ann Arbor on the day before Thanksgiving! | |
