| Hi are there any baseball fans on here. I was just wanting to let everyone know who hasn't heard yet that the Cardnials relief pitcher Josh Hancock was killed late last nite in a car wreck. So would everyone pray for his family. Thank you |

| I'm a big baseball fan, cinlynn. I heard about Josh's accident while watching the Tigers-Twins game today. My prayers are with his family.
Thanks for mentioning this.

| How sad. I hadn't heard about that. I haven't been keeping up with my Tigers like usual. Thanks for letting us know. His family has my prayers. | |

| I'm a big Reds fan, and I heard this very sad news just before today's Reds-Pirates game. Hancock pitched for the Reds for one season and part of another. | |

| I like the Reds, too. My Dad tried out for them many, many years ago. And I always liked those Big Red Machine teams of the '70s. | |

| Rob, was that when you were a little boy, or was it before you were born? Very interesting! | |

| You mean my Dad trying out? It was before I was born. Back in the '40s, just after he came home from the War. He was playing on a local team when a scout from the Reds came through town. He liked what he saw, and asked my Dad to come down to Cincinnati for a tryout. He went, and they offered him a minor league contract. But he had a chance to go into the automotive business with a friend, and that seemed like a more solid gamble than baseball, so he ended up opting for that. Believe it or not, in those days a guy starting out in a small business could actually make better money than a ballplayer. | |

| I should've posted this last night - but "my" game got rained out. It's finishing up tonight. Anyway....Who else is going to be watching the playoffs? I know Rob will be - though he isn't able to be here to comment on it till Monday. Anyone else? | |

| Lovin' your avatar, Savannah! I haven't had time to get heavily involved in everything, although I would have liked to. Too many chores to catch up on. I'll definitely be tuning in from time to time though! | |

| So what do you think will be the World Series? I am seriously hoping that it isn't St. Louis and Texas. For one thing, that just sounds like one of the most boring World Series ever! At least I think so. Second, I really want my Brewers to make it. And I know that may be boring to other people, but it wouldn't be to me! Having said that, I have been DYING to have it be a Tigers-Brewers WS (with the Brewers winning, of course! ). I am really hoping the Brewers make it. It would be so typical of them to lose it all. This kind is their time right now. And I really want the Tigers to win because I just plain don't like the Rangers. Of course, beating them would be even better than beating the Tigers. It would be more satisfying. Honestly, I want my Brewers to win, but I wouldn't feel so bad if the Tigers beat us. I would probably die just a little inside if they did, but I would survive that defeat. The others...I'm not too sure. I am not going to lose faith in Detroit. After all, they did beat the Yankees. THANK YOU!!!! **Also, does anyone know what "Second Chance" tickets are to playoff games? I haven't been able to really find anything online that makes sense of that. I managed to get chosen to buy tickets to the NLDS (I happened to be at Game 5 when the Brewers beat the Diamondbacks in the 10th inning! ). But they told me that I was neither chosen to purchase tickets to the NLCS or the World Series but I may still be eligible for "second chance tickets". Does anyone know what that means exactly? What are they?
It makes me so mad, though. I wasn't able to purchase NLCS tickets, but a person in front and in back that night got their NLDS tickets the same way I did and they were able to try to purchase NLCS tickets! SO UNFAIR!!! Who's going to do the cooking?!?!

| Good luck in tonight's game, MissOleson. Looks like the Brewers will have a bit of an upward climb, but they can do it. - MissOleson wrote:

I visited the Tigers' message board after that last Yankee game, and there were scads of posts from people all over the country. They weren't necessarily Tiger fans, but they just wanted to say thanks for knocking off the Yanks. I'm afraid I don't know what Second Chance tickets are.

I am hoping that this will be the start of a trend with teams. I am just so tired of the Yankees. Other teams deserve a chance, too. So I am happy that Detroit at least got the opportunity over the Yankees this year. - Amy wrote:
- Miss Oleson, I agree...the Tigers and the Brewers would be a good match!
Well, there is always hope for next year, right? I felt so bad for the Tigers when I heard what they lost by. Then the Brewers had to go and lose what they lost by. That is such a shame. I am really not a Rangers fan, but I have to say that I am pulling for them. I just don't like the Cardinals enough to ever root for them (it is mainly a mixture of Tony LaRussa and the nasty Cardinals fans - they also really don't need another title right now). As I have said many times to people now, every team deserves to win at least once. So, GO RANGERS, I guess!
