"American Idol" - Season 8

Kris is doing awesome tonight....I actually really loved the song Simon just kind of dissed. (Marvin Gaye, "What's Goin' On"), but for the most part I think the judges are being very fair. I was afraid they were going to tear Kris apart. They have been saying we have a 'real competition' here, which is surprising that they would admit that!

Well, both Adam & Kris stunk on the last song....I hate those 'winners songs' they hand out to the contestants....I liked that last year they let the two Davids pick their own songs. You didn't hear the winner's song until David C. actually won the whole thing.

Good news---I have had a tough time getting through to vote for Kris. I have given him some votes, but not as many as I'd hoped for. Hopefully the busy signal on all three numbers is a good sign!

Yeah, that last song was brutal for both of them, especially Kris. I think that Kris gave Adam a run for his money, though. I like Kris's type of music. He has that John Mayer sound to him. Or maybe Bryan Adams. Adam is just too over the top for my taste.

I'm excited to see David Cook and Carrie Underwood perform this evening. Actually, there are quite a few people scheduled to perform.

Carrie Underwood was awesome last night, wasn't she? She sure is a powehouse.

That's the thing with Adam, he's a powerhouse but he is annoying in a way that other 'powerhouses' haven't been in the past. I just can't take his voice anymore.

I'm excited to see David C. tonight too!

Oh, did I miss Carrie last night? We fast-forwarded through most of the show. We only watched Adam and Kris perform their songs.

Guess what?! David Cook is coming to my city in July and I'm going to SEE HIM!!! It's a 'festival' type thing held outside. My friend is in a wedding and can't go, so she is letting me use her tickets!!

That's AWESOME, Amy!! He's coming here to a casino that is 10 minutes from my house on July 24th. The concert sold out in a matter of hours, however there are still a few tickets available through stub hub. Those, however, are quite expensive, so I think I'll have to rely on you for feedback.

Yep, I'm goin'! We are going to get there EARLY---it's first come/first serve, so I'll need to get out of work early that day!

Oh, and my take on last night's battle:

I liked Adam Lambert's Mad World but didn't really like the coat and smoke... Simon was right.. it made it look a little theatrical.

I liked BOTH of Kris' songs!

I did not like the 3rd song... the lyrics... i don't know... LOL

We'll see tonight... could be close! Could be a surprise! Could Kris really be the next American Idol?
Either way... these 2 are already BOTH winners... just like David Cook & David Archuleta are... one of them will just have the title and a little extra something lol

I'm enjoying the finale....I just hope we don't have to listen to that 3rd song in the same key, whoever the winner is! Actually I'd prefer we not have to hear it again AT ALL. :think:

That final song was much better---sounds like a lower key this time.

Both the guys did a really good job tonight. I hope Kris doesn't get a 'bad rap' for being voted the Idol...he totally deserved it IMO. Danny was great tonight too---I so wish it would have been the two of them against each other tonight. I wish a point would have been proven that Adam had too much experience to be on Idol---it would have been more suspenseful, IMO, had it been between Danny & Kris. But perhaps a point was proven, just by Kris beating him...obviously we weren't the only ones who weren't Adam fans!

Arghhhhhhhh...wanted Adam Lambert to win...oh well...I'll survive this just like I survived the election...

I'm guessing that all of the Danny Gokey fans voted for Kris.

Kathy, I'm sorry about Adam...I didn't even realize you were watching! I would have been more careful about 'dissing' him had a I known there was someone who liked him....I think the general consensus around here has been that he had too much theater background from the get-go for this show, at least from what I can tell. That's why I'm thrilled for Kris---Adam is quite obviously the better entertainer AND singer in a lot of ways, but he's not your typical 'rags to riches' story that Idol is usually going for from season to season. IMO, it should be a virtual 'nobody' going for it, and I don't think Adam ever really 'needed' Idol. (Just trying to explain where I'm coming from on this. ).

Here's what one article said:

I think that may sum up what a lot of America was feeling.

I did enjoy the whole show last night---I think the entertainment was great and it was a good choice of songs. I just felt much more emotional last year watching the two Davids go at it.
