Lorrie, you live close to Peshtigo, don't you? The scene of America's deadliest forest fire? Yes I do Rob, I am only about 30 miles away. It's funny your familiar with the Peshtigo fire since it coincided with the Great Chicago fire it kinda got overlooked, yes it was a deadly one. Lots of heritage in that small town regarding museums etc. As for the snow... well thanks for sending it my way Teresa. We are suppose to get that foot of snow by tomorrow night. It's nasty out there right now... And Savannah and Rob it's only fair that I push it over Lake Michigan for the two of you to enjoy on Wednesday. No thanks are needed...

| Lorrie, it's really quite a coincidence. I only heard about the Peshtigo Fire about a week ago, when I came across it in my reading. I got curious and read some more about it online. Then you mentioned your town, and when I googled it I saw it was right next door to Peshtigo! | |

| Ohh... Susie I wouldn't do that to you. You guys get enough snow. As of the moment we are still getting hammered. We have 6 inches on the ground now and another 2-4 expected by noon. I did make it into work though thanks to the hubby's four wheel drive. I guess Rob, Savannah and poor Marilyn up there in Canada will be next in line. Stay safe guys. | |

Our Golden Mix, Chelsey, adores the snow, while our Beagle, Jenna', hates it! She's short (a very small Beagle) and because she sits low to the ground she really hates having to 'squat'! LOL! I really need to be more dilligent about getting out there to shovel a section away...otherwise she simply won't go 'outside', “Not all of us can do great things. | We got about an inch of snow last night! I know that isn't much but for Texas that is HUGE! It started about 5 p.m. and was so beautiful coming down in the dark. My boys didn't have enough to collect on the ground but quickly scraped vehicles to make snowballs. It was about 32 degrees all night but it will be 60 today. Very odd. I told my guys about three days ago that I thought it might snow this year because we have had a much cooler fall. Nathan told me I would make a good weather mom for the nightly news. I just laughed and said " No thank-you. I think I'll keep my day job." I got pictures of the snow with all of our Christmas lights on the house. Hope they turn out pretty. It sure was magical. Oh ya....I found a 12 inch snowman in the deep freeze this morning. Guess someone wants to keep that magic around awhile! LOL Stay warm everyone....Smiles...Gin It is the lack of Christianity that has brought us where we are. Not a lack of churches or religious forms but of the real thing in our hearts. | Gin, that is aweseome!! I'm so happy for you!! Gosh, I didn't know Texas EVER got snow! I'll bet this will be a Christmas season to remember. (Hey, BTW, my son is going to come out your way! He plays in his college marching band and they (Western Michigan University) is going to play in the Texas Bowl in Houston! I know he's hoping for warm weather so you'd better clear your snow out by then! (Dec. 30th). “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

| Cool Amy! That is great. Can't promise great weather, but its usually mild--(50ish) by late Dec. with 30's at night. What does he play? Nathan plays the trumpet. He went to region tryouts last weekend...made that ( out 107 trumpets...they were taking 18 , he made 9th chair) then that put him trying out for area...made that ...they were taking the top 10...made 9th chair) whew! So now in Jan. he will try out for state. He is now holding a slot in the top 40 in the state of Texas.!!! He is so pumped and now has a HUGE sign on his wall in his room that says...PRACTICE! I just want this to pay off into a scholorship! He is a sophomore now so he has time to keep getting better. It is the lack of Christianity that has brought us where we are. | Gin---WOW, your son is a talent!! Brendan plays trumpet too, but he's no prodigy or anything (and is the first to admit it ). In fact, he didn't try out for college concert band for next term because he didn't think he'd make it, and also it cuts into his credits. He is doing this more 'for fun', and LOVES marching band. He's more a prodigy at marching than at his instrument---he trained under the best director in our state in high school, so he has a special 'something' that some of the kids lack in the college band. My younger son has a more 'natural' talent for the trumpet---he's in 8th grade so we'll see where he goes with it. He loves band just like his big bro. Keep me posted on how your son does in January---good luck to him! I didn't realize Texas would only be in the 50's in December---so much for 'warm'! Well, compared to here, it will be. “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

| Being from Wisconsin, I can remember one year when my father was stationed in Fort Hood Texas (about 1976) and we had gotten snow. What I remember most is riding around with dad and seeing so many cars in ditches and the roads being almost like a ghost town. I think we only got a couple inches and it paralyzed everyone except us Wisconsinites and by the next day it was all gone. | |

| We don't have much snow coming down, but the wind is absolutely ferocious! It's roaring outside. I'm hoping that it dies down before I have to go to work. The windchill makes it subzero, but not as subzero as your temps, Jacob. | |

| Well the windchill temps here in Wisconsin is a cool -18 degrees Fahrenheit. The way I see it were in the tropics compared to poor Jacob. The hard part of this all was we had a balmy 40 degrees temperature yesterday with lots of rain. Thank goodness it didn't turn to ice, the winds seemed to dry everything up before it could freeze. We were lucky.... Brrrrrrr....... | |

| You had 50? Wow! It was 37 up here, and I thought that was a heat wave! Hey Jacob, did you get down to minus 48 C like they were forecasting? The coldest I've ever seen it here was one morning back in the 1980s when our thermometer read 45 below zero, F. I don't know if that was official or not. I see that our all-time coldest temp in Mich. was -51, back in 1934. Here's a neat website where you can find your state's record highs and lows: Record Setting Weather | |

| Today we had a high of 52 and tonight it will be 32 degrees. We've had some rain with hail this afternoon. Snow in the mountains... the air is really clear right now and can see a good distance, everything looks clean. It looks like the rain and sun are fighting.... one minute it showers... the next, the sun comes out... lol
They say we might have snow flurries on Wednesday here on the valley floor... but I doubt it... the mountains got a lot of snow though! | |
