Hi guys,

I did have a rough weekend and week due to my last chemo. But the good news is now hopefully my body will get some rest. I have an appointment this Friday for my chest MRI to check how much the tumor has shrunk. I will then have to wait another week before meeting with my oncologist and breast surgeon on Feb. 1st.

This past Saturday while my hubby and I were out watching the Packer game at our local hangout a lady walked into the bar with a half dozen other people. She spotted me down at the end of the bar and recognized me when I used to bowl with her mother. Missy was her name, she then came down to sit next to me and we chatted. She said to me "Are you going through treatment?" To which of course I responded "yes and I told her I had breast cancer".

A tear then slid down her cheek as she told me she was just diagnosed on Tuesday with breast cancer. She had just gone through the same gamut of testing that I originally went through at the same hospital. It seems we will have the exact same doctors by the time she's ready for chemo. We hugged each other hard and exchanged phone numbers. Talk about being where I needed to be...

Other then that my cell counts are starting to rebound and I have already logged two hours on my brand new treadmill that I brought home this past weekend, only thing now is I have a blister to contend with.. LOL

Isn't it amazing how God places the people we need in our lives, exactly when (and where) we need them? So glad that you will be able to support each other Lorrie.

I'm sorry you had such a rough week....hope you can get the rest you need now. Especially now that you've finished on that treadmill!

Lorrie, bless your heart for being there for someone who needed that encouragement, even when you weren't feeling too great yourself. The world could use more people like you.

GREAT NEWS !!! No more chemo.... My Oncologist was very please with my latest MRI results. The tumor is a lot smaller and less dense. She has now turned me over to the breast specialist. Next week I have an appointment with another surgeon whom will do the reconstruction phase of the operation. It looks like Feb. 23rd, 24th or 25th will be my surgery date. I am so psyched...

NO MORE CHEMO !!!

YIPPPPEEEEE! NOW off to get a perky pair! Plus now you can start on a new hair dooooo.... SO glad things have gone as planned. Prayers have been answered!!

I can never thank you enough for the love and support you guys have given me. My surgery has been set for February 28th at 11:00a.m. Finally... finally... finally...

The good news thus far, my lymph nodes still look good. So on surgery day I will be injected two hours prior to surgery with a radioactive dye. The surgeon will then remove the first lymph node under each armpit just in case other tumors are detected in the breast by the pathologist. He will then need nodes to dissect to check for the presence of cancer there as well. But while still under anesthesia the left node will be checked. If no cancer is present then no other nodes need to be removed. This is great news as removing all lymph nodes from under the armpit can cause numerous problems from swelling in the arm to permanent numbness. Plus this will also mean no radiation is needed for me as well.

The mastectomy phase of my operation will take three hours, the reconstruction part about an hour. When one breast is removed the Dr. will move over to the other side of the table and work on the other, and the plastic surgeon will step in and add the expander to the breast that was just removed. It will be quite the tag team operation. A tissue expander will be placed behind the chest wall on each side and over the next few months saline will be added to expand the implant expander. After about 4 months when everything is healed the expander will be removed and the implants put in. Depending how much the chest wall expands will determine the size of my implants. It's quite an interesting process from start to finish, it'll be like going through puberty all over again.

Just wanted to update you all on my progress. Oh and I am starting to feel hair stubble's on the top of my head. No five o'clock shadow yet, but it's starting.

Everyone I talk to that has this done is SO glad to finally get to surgery day. Its like the final step to knocking the cancer. Its amazing what they can do now, and I'm sure you will do well. Your attitude has been great through this so keep it up. We are all cheering you on!

Lorrie, I am so happy for you! You are such an inspiration! You have been so strong through this whole process, and now you can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. February 28th is just around the corner. I bet that your husband is so relieved. Even though this has been such a scary time for you, you still haven't lost your sense of humor. It's rare that you can read a post about cancer, and still have a chuckle. Your "going through puberty all over again" comment put a smile on my face. You continue to be in my prayers.
