Here is my report!
Kristy reminded me of a blonde shania twain as far as the looks go lol. Too bad she was sick... I hope to see her sing better. I really like her but she didn't move at all... :( I liked her performance a lot. I'm sure she's good... it just doesn't interest me.... I liked it. Mmmm.... It was okay... It didn't want me to buy her CD... lol I liked her attitude but only when she's performing. She was probably one of those loud girls in class... lol I agreed with the judges... when she's imitating someone... she's really entertaining.... she has to find her own self, be herself and work it. I want to see her in the competition as it progreses The girl can sing I love her! :sillySmiley: She has a very strong voice. I really really love the song she sang. Even though she had a contract before... she wasn't really known at all and the recording label dissappeared... so I think it's okay that she's trying out for AI... she doesn't have a contract and yet, she's is getting some serious camera time...
I don't want any girl to leave, lol.... but unfortunately two have to go. Who do you guys think it will be? I think maybe Joanne will be one of them

Thanks Kathy...I'm glad I'm not alone in my assessment!
Carol, you were right about Joanne!
Ok, so I think we really have a competition here! I totally think America got it right...I would have picked those four!!
Colton and Garrett are both younger ones that need more experience. They're not bad, but unlike some of the other teens, they just don't have the whole package yet. Amy was 'pitchy' and out of tune throughout her entire song the other night and I'm kind of shocked that all the judges were so kind about it, including Simon. My parents and I watched it together and thought it was excruciating and couldn't wait for the song to end! And Joanne, I never liked her voice even in the auditions, and wondered how she even made it to the top 12 considering they wanted to pick the 'best of the best'. There are several that are really making me wonder what the judges were thinking.
I hope I'm not sounding mean....obviously all these people have voices, or they wouldn't be here....but just trying to keep it real.

See, this is exactly why I only keep up with the show through the posts that you all make here. I'd be sitting there, agonizing through an off-pitch song.......the judges would praise the individual.....THAT person would make it to the next level. It would drive me nuts! Then, a more deserving person would be cut from the competition, and I'd be completely frustrated. I think that a lot of times, it's a personality and mood contest, even with the judges.

Oh, I know, Savannah. It really does get frustrating...I think especially because I've had voice training and can tell when some is screeching or shouting or out of tune/key or whatever. It's annoying when the judges...ahem, PAULA especially...don't 'call' them on it. I almost ALWAYS agree with Simon though...sure his 'delivery' can sometimes leave something to be desired , but hey, he tells it like it is! Some of these people NEED to be told or they'll just keep on torturing the audience every week! And YES, you're so right about personality/mood/attitude....for example, I was turned off completely by a couple of people (guys and girls) that kind of argued with Simon, when he was 'dead on' about them. They are so full of themselves, they can't take the criticism. It happens every season, and I can only guess that the judges are keeping track of the people who take the criticism like a champ and those who think they're all that and a bag of chips, you know? I wish the judges had SOME kind of say in who wins this thing...again, if they'd just adopt the whole voting system from Dancing with the Stars, I think it would be a much better show.

Yeah, some of the egos can be irritating, especially when these people haven't actually done anything in the music biz yet. Like the one guy a couple seasons ago, who, when he made the top 24, said, "I'm ready to show the world what God has given me," or something like that. After he left the room Simon said, "If I'd known he was going to say that, I never would have let him through."

I almost always agree with Simon's comments 100%. Like last night, Paula encouraged Colton to keep going with his singing. Simon said that he should get a good job, when he gets a little older, and still continue singing on the side. Exactly!! He would never make it in the music business. It's just too difficult. Look at some of the past winners and contestants. Sure, some of them made it big, but some like Fantasia And Ruben kind of fizzled out. I haven't heard anything from Taylor Hicks in awhile. But it's people like Colton, who don't have nearly as strong a voice, that would get shut out in the business. Garrett is the same way, as well as many of the girls. As Simon said, there are only about 3 guys, and 3 girls who truly have the talent it takes to go all the way. In his comments, Simon usually says what everyone is thinking, but to afraid to say out loud.

Same here... no surprises at all.... Although it scared me a little when Ryan first called Kristy up... lol
I gotta say though... that the song that the nurse rocker chick sang was sooooo annoying to me! lol I mean... she was good and all.. I just was not feeling that song (like Randy says)... lol

There just seemed to be one line throughout the whole song that she rocked out to. I can't remember it, but she kept singing it over and over.................and over again.

I didn't see the show last night, but I wanted to say, I couldn't agree more, Teresa! Come on, you might as well tell it like it is...no sense giving false hopes to the people that really don't have 'it'...dreams are good, but you have to be realistic about them, IMO.
Rob, I remember the guy you're talking about!! YES!! Can't remember his name...but I think I actually liked him until I heard that statement!
Carol, the girl with the 'skunk hair' (sorry, is there any other way to describe it? ) annoyed me too. Could anyone understand a word out of her mouth? I actually am interested to hear her just sing a song...and yes, Teresa, the song was monotonous and just never went anywhere. What drive me CrAzY is when I'm thinking someone didn't do well, and then they cut to the judges who say, "Now that's what I'm talkin' about! YOU are what this competition is all about" and whatever. I begin to wonder if I know anything at all!
And Jacob, I wish I could help you out with that song, but I can't remember! I dont' think it was one I recognized though...

I am so glad Garrett and Colton went home! They were my 2 least favorite guys. I was sad to see Joanne go, but if she wasn't up to par, then it's only fair.

Yeah... she had a tough break. But two of them HAD to go... and the rest of the girls.. just had a better performance than her. But you get one chance... one moment ... no do overs... and now she's gone
I'm sure she'll continue singing though.

Oh she is, Beckie? I hadn't heard that! GOOD for her! (She's from Flint, MI....not far from where I live!). She wasn't my 'type' as far as voice goes, but she was definitely very talented. Do you know what Broadway show she's doing specifically?

The Color Purple. Former AI winner Fantasia Barrino was in it as well. Lakeisha will be taking over for her. Here is an article with more details. One of my fave singers Chaka Khan will be sharing the role with her. They also mention Melinda Doolittle and that she could have a good career if she becomes a stage actress and singer. http://www.buddytv.com/articles/american-idol/american-idol-lakisha-jones-jo-11621.aspx

I am SO glad I recorded tonight's show, because I've watched David A's performance like 5 times already!! That was absolutely amazing and I'll tell you...what a rare talent he is. It takes a lot to make me cry at a song, and he did. Honestly, based on last week's performance and this week's, my money is on this kid to win the whole thing! I'll be buying his cd, that's for sure!! And I love that he's just so darn likeable too. He's humble...that's a rare thing in itself these days.
I also love David Hernandez though too...I absolultely loved the song he did tonight! He has the charisma & confidence that so many of the guys are lacking in this season, IMO, and he has the voice to back it up. I like to watch him AND listen and I can't say that for everyone.
Can't wait to see the girls tomorrow night!
Beckie, thanks for the info about Lekesha! That's so cool that she's in the Color Purple....I would love to see it!

:agree: Oh Amy, I agree 100% with you! :Sbob: Both Davids were great! I have to say David Archuleta already won! LOL That kid has talent! I'm going to iTunes and buy his song.
Are they voting two people off again? I think Luke will be one of the ones going... him and that guy who sang 'moon river' on the first day.

I think they're voting two again this week and next. I don't care for Luke's voice, but I actually thought he did really great on the Queen song. They played it on the radio this morning (just a re-cap on the news) and he sounded good! I'd hate to see him go on an 'up' song. I don't like the guy who did Moon River last week either (he did Doobie Brothers and I agree with Paula that the song didn't show his range at all), he's lacking charisma too. I'm not a Danny Noriega fan...I won't mind when he goes. I was pretty amazed by Chickezee's performance last night...he was SO much better than last week. Hopefully Michael (the austrailian) and Jason (dreadlocks ) will step up their game next week (provided they're safe), because I think they were both off last night.

LOL!! Amy and Carol, I was thinking the exact same thing as you. David A. is truly in a league of his own out there. He was absolutely AMAZING last night. I love the song, "Imagine," and he sang it beautifully. My husband and I were amazed. We also watched it a couple of times. I always used to watch Chris Daughtry's performances a couple of times too. David may as well just take some time off and show up for the finale. LOL!!!!!!!! If John Lennon were alive today, listening to David sing his song would have brought tears to his eyes too. What a wonderful talent!!!!!!!!!!
