| Wow, they weren't just a'kiddin' about the talent this season. We're only on the 4th contestant right now and I'm blown away! I agree with Kara about Brent---he is SO good but that was not enough---he is MUCH better than that and he is not 'typical'. He sounded pretty 'typical' right there, IMO. I wish he would have shown more range. BUT, he's right---there may be plenty of country fans who will put him right through anyway. So far Alexis Grace is the one that sticks out in my mind. Of course, we have lots more singers to go. The first girl has personality plus, and I LIKE her, but I don't go for that 'Janis Joplin' sound. She is better than Amanda from last season, thank goodness, but I just prefer that that 'sound' does not go through this time. I really like the second guy...he did a great job on that song. I love that song anyway. *EDIT*...ok, in the end, my favorite 3 of this group are Danny Goeke, Alexis Grace and the big country boy (sorry, I can't remember his name). I just love his personality---I really liked his song choice, pitchy or not, and he is a born performer. I totally want to see him continue!! I really like Anoop too, but I don't think he has the 'heart' that the country boy has. I voted for Alexis the most (she sang early and I think she may have been forgotten), and I voted for the country boy several times. I figure it would be insane if Danny didn't go through so I didn't vote for him---I hope everyone else isn't thinking like I am or I am going to be one sorry chick! And if Tatiana makes it, I am going to DIE. I can't believe the judges didn't rip her apart. Personally I thought she STUNK and had no business trying Whitney. Whatever happened to the judges (RANDY) saying "you don't touch Whitney!!" ????? I mean, come ON!!! And I'm sorry, the girl is just nuts---I think she has multiple personalities or something! | |

I Really Like Brent Keith Smith he was so Good I think he could have Career in Country Music I am Hoping he is gonna get to Stay so Please Vote For Him for Me lol Okay Jacob, I just put 3 votes for him.... for you *I don't mind voting for you, so just tell me who you want and I'll put in the votes Okay... wow! 1st night! Okay, there were 6 contestants that I liked tonight and my top 3 have stars! And they are: Alexis Anoop Michael AnneMarie Tatiana.... I know! But the girl can sing... I think. *ducks from amy* lol I thought she had her moments and sang better then the other girls... and I thought the judges were dumb when they kept asking her to be crazy... Goes to show what they will do for "good TV". Anyway, I hope Tatiana just starts acting normal because I have to admit that tonight, I liked how she sounded, Alexis was the best girl, Tatiana came in 2nd. I think Randy, Kara & Paula overreacted a little lol.... I mean, yes, it was good but it wasn't great! lol Rob, I may be in the minority with you.... LOL Okay, so my predictions are: Best Female: Alexis Best Male: Danny 3rd Place: Tatiana or Anoop

| LOL Rob & Carol---you are entitled to like Tatiana! Ok, so maybe she didn't "stink", perhaps that was a bit harsh. But I've seen much better attempts at Whitney songs and still Randy tearing people up over them. I thought Tatiana was quite pitchy and I didn't feel much 'heart/connection' with the song. But that's just me. I really do like Anoop too. And I thought the second guy (last name is Braddy) was wonderful, in fact probably better talent-wise than Anoop, but Anoop has more personality. That counts for a LOT. I wanted to cry for the young girl who got SO nervous. She was just terrible. And yet she's so good! Simon's right--she got some experience and that was actually really good for her. Poor thing though. (Her mother was pretty ridiculous though. ). I agree with you Carol about Danny---I do think he was pretty great, but Paula, Randy and Kara went a little overboard---I just don't want them 'woo hoo-ing' every performance so easily. He is in a league of his own up there though, IMHO. He had more control than anyone up there, and the guy is almost never off pitch! He's really got it! One more thing---I enjoyed Kara's critiquing last night. She is so articulate (ahem, refreshing ) and she is HONEST. Love that. She can be pretty blatantly honest too, like Simon, yet with a little more heart. I think she's fast becoming my new favorite judge! Jacob, I don't mind voting for you either! Anytime! | |

| Whew!!! I thought that I was going to be in the minority. LOL!! Last night was pretty brutal, to say the least. I had high hopes for Casey Carlson, and I think that her performance was one of the worst......ever!!! The song choices were terrible last night. Most of them have good voices, but not GREAT voices. The only two I enjoyed were Alexis and Danny. Tatiana was okay, and yes, I agree that Paula and Kara overreacted with Danny. He was really good, but not fantastic. I was hoping that Anne Marie would have done a little better. It was just a pretty disappointing night last night. I agreed with ALL of Simon's comments, even though some were a little harsh............it was the truth. You can tell the ones who are ready for the IDOL phenomenon, and those who are good singers, but not ready for the "big time." My husband and I were excited about having Casey on there, since she is from a neighboring suburb, but after she sang, we quickly crawled under the couch in embarrassment. LOL!! I think that it was good that she was brought down a notch, because I have a feeling that she was quite the "princess" around Eden Prairie Highschool. Also, I think that the first girl with the "painted on pants" needs to be brought down a notch too. The Janis Joplin wanna be. She's really annoying to me. | |

| Who is Casey? Is that the girl that sang The Police? Um, yeah. It was good they brought her down a notch. When she got done with that, you could tell she was really happy with the performance and was pretty shocked with Randy's criticism. And then Sarah's, and then Paula's, LOL. I don't think she was BAD (not like the young girl with the nerves), but she certainly wasn't 'up to par'. This is where we really have the 'varying talent' going on considering it's 36 vs. the old '24'. Some really are just not ready for this, still 'good', just not exceptional.
I was really sorry about the guy who chose Michael Jackson. What was he thinking??? I was hoping he would have redeemed himself because I really do like his voice. Like you said Teresa, some really bad song choices last night. I loved Alexis's song choice, and 'Janis Joplin's (for her anyway---it suited her), and Michael Sarver's. I thought Danny's was good too, but across the board you just have to wonder WHY some of these people pick what they do, with ALL the great songs out there.

| Yes, Amy, Casey was the one who sang The Police. I had forgotten that the girl with the nerves was only 16. That explains alot. She still has a shot at stardom when she's older. Her voice can only get better. | |

What was she thinking?! Her movements were awkward but like Simon said, the winking was the least of her troubles lol. I would have preferred to watch Richard Simmons running around in circles and singing 'Go Tell it on the Mountain'. LOL - Amy wrote:

Yeah and I totally agree with Simon with the music for that song: T.E.R.R.I.B.L.E That guy already got too many chances... and he's blown them. Too bad, because yes.. he did have a nice voice. I don't get it either Amy, soooo many great songs to choose from and some of the songs that these guys pick... *shakes head*

| LOL, Carol!! It's like.....did they think that 9/12 were going to make it instead of 3/12? Since the odds of making the top 3 are slim, you really need to BRING IT, or else it's not gonna happen. Even Danny could have brought it more. Yeah, Casey was ODD!! | |

Uh oh... I only voted for him twice because the hype and overdone praise from the judges got on my nerves lol. I gave Tatiana & Alexis 5 votes. I also voted for all of my top 6 at least once. Oh, and 3 votes for Jacob's country boy *How many times do you guys vote for the ones you really like?

| What happens tonight? Is the next group going to sing, or are they just going to announce who made it through from last night? And did I hear Ryan right? Only three people from last night will go on - one guy, one girl, and a wild card? | |

| Yes, only 3 will go through from each group, Rob. The top girl, the top guy, and then a wild card. After all 3 groups cut it to 3, then they'll add 3 more wild cards. In total, there will be 12, which gets them to where they need to be, as in previous seasons when they narrow it to 12. The season is over in May, so they'll start voting off 1 per week. So tonight will be the vote off, and then next week the 2nd group of 12 will perform. | |

| So this final group of wild cards (after all the groups have sung) will be out of ALL the singers? So does that mean that if some of our favorites tonight don't get picked, it doesn't necessarily mean they're through? | |
