Not sure... I think Danny might be trembling in his sapatos though because Matt, Anoop, Jorge & Adam are good singers... lol

I'm watching now...(it's Michael Jackson, BTW)....Gosh, this is some good competition I'd say! Jasmine just sang and she really is good---I'm glad she got another chance! And Michael Sarver---I thought he was pretty great---who knew had those chops? LOL, as kara would say. :haha: I am a little scared for Lil, being first---they tend to get forgotten. She was great and deserves to stay. I didn't like the song that Scott chose, but he did well on it. So far, Danny is my favorite tonight. Many more to go though...
Oh, and tomorrow they're going to eliminate two singers...

Well, I see why they think that Adam is in a league of his own, but he is really not my style. -To me, that was a lot of screaming. I'm sure he's going far though.
My vote went to Danny, Matt, and Alexis. I usually only vote for one person, but I figure this early in the game, I'll vote for all my faves. I thought the judges short-changed Alexis---I thought she was really good, and they had JUST told Adam that 'over the top' was how you need to do Michael Jackson, and then they told her she was over the top, but it was negative. Hmmm. Plus, there was the phone number issue and I'll feel badly if she doesn't get in there---I really like her voice. Megan---what happened there?! That didn't sound like it came from Michael Jackson night!! Not too crazy about her. And Anoop and Jorge kind of messed up tonight---too bad. I think of the two of them though, Jorge is the more 'likeable' one and will stay over Anoop. Overall I was impressed tonight, but there were some weird song choices. I think Matt G. totally has the edge over Scott in the talent though (this is just my opinion, and I'm comparing the two because they're the two pianists)...I like them both, but I think Matt has a little something over him.
For those who don't know about the phone # issue, here's the article:

Wow, what a first night! Here is my report:
I thought Lil did great and she looked nice! I don't know why Simon said he didn't like it! :bash: lol
I didn't like this one too much. I thought he was going to sing "You are not alone". I agree Amy, Matt is the piano man for me. :P
I liked it! He did a good job.
I didn't like this. The song he sang is one of my favorites and I just didn't like this version he did...
Not my favorite song for her... she should have done a more upbeat song from Jackson 5!
This was alright. I felt bad for his wife when Simon made that dumb comment... I mean, I can see why he said it... so that more girls would vote for him and thing he's "single"... but still...
She's the rocker chick. Loved the song, the style, she did great!
Oh Anoop! Just because you love the song doesn't mean that it's right to sing it for you! lol I felt bad for him when Simon said that based on that performance he had regretted having a top 13... yikes! Hopefully people will forgive his mistake...
Yikes, another wrong song choice. Poor Jorge... hopefully he'll stay, I like him.
Oh Megan... getting a little tired of seeing the same weird dance lol Not good....
Whoa!!!!! I don't like all that screaming but as far as performance he stole the show tonight. I want to hear him do a slow song... because he sounds like he has a big range.
Loved it!!!! Loved the song, he was awesome!
I thought she was good! Yeah, Amy, I agree with you about the Judges telling her not to go so over the top when they said the opposite when it came to Adam! Not fair... I thought Alexis was great!
So, after everyone sang... my 6 favorites were: Lil, Danny, Allison, Adam, Matt & Alexis.
**Hmm... I wonder what change they are going to have. I think it will have to do with the Judges deciding on the vote. We shall see...

Great 'review' Carol! I agree with everything you wrote!
Oh, "you are not alone" would have been good for Scott...at least better than what he chose. I've never even heard of that song before! But you know, he needs to show that he's not going to be all 'schmultzy' all the time...I don't know how else to put it. I just don't see him as being a 'contemporary' artist.
And yeah, Kris's wife didn't look too pleased with Simon's comment, did she?! But...I hate to say it...he had a point! But hey, he's only 5 months married...he is ALL about his wife right now and of course he's going to have her as the focus of his 'video highlight'! Makes sense. I kind of enjoyed him last night...he's not great, but he's cool, especially with the guitar. I agree with Simon though, the song didn't seem suited to the guitar so it was a bit awkward for me.
As far as the 'change' their making tonight, I HOPE it's not that the judges get the final say. If that happens, why even bother voting any more, if they're the ones to 'rule' the ultimate outcome? I don't think they should change that. But I am wondering too what this is all about.

I think it is... Simon said the public wouldn't be happy.
I think they'll do that because some people like votefortheworst get a kick out of voting for the not so good contestants... yesterday they picked Megan and voted their butts off for her.
Anyway, love Michael's music! :headphone:

Well, in some ways I guess it would be really good (to avoid any future "Sanjayas"), but it still kind of seems like voting is pointless. I guess we'll see tonight, but you're right---I'm not sure what else would upset us that much.
I'm not surprised Megan was voted the worst on that site...looks aren't everything.

So what do you all think of the new rule and who got voted off last night? At first I didn't think the rule was going to be fair, but I can see why they've done it. I feel bad for the people being told they're off though, and then they have to stand there with the slight glimmer of hope that the judges will save them. That has to be tough.

I kind of like the new rule. But since it'll only happen once, and they want to preserve the drama, I think we all knew there wasn't a chance in the world they'd use it last night... or that they'll use it next week, or the week after that...
Now, the vote-offs. *sigh* I think they bounced two of the best. I didn't care much for Jorge's performance the night before, but he'd proven on the night they picked the Final 13 that he was head and shoulders above a lot of the other competitors. I wish the voters would take history into account.
And Jasmine might've been my favorite among the girls. I thought her voice was very pure and beautiful, and she sang the melody, without a lot of vocal histrionics. Of course, that might've worked against her.
Overall, I was pretty disappointed.

I completely agree Rob. I really liked Jorge too...yes, this song was all wrong, but that guy has some serious talent. I think one thing that hurts him a little, is his speech...sometimes it's hard to understand him when he sings, and I think he'd do better off being a latin singer. I hope he got enough exposure from this show to do just that. I do think he was probably the most 'passionate' person on the show! Also, I think Jorge is a more natural 'performer' than Anoop---his dance moves just seem to come from within, and you just 'feel' his joy.
I wasn't as disappointed about Jasmine, but I agree that she is very VERY good. I just think that the competition is pretty fierce this season....a good sign of that was the group number last night...that was excellent. In season's past, there have been a few voices here and there that stuck out, and not in a good way, but last night they were very good I thought!

Jacob, as a group and as a 'whole' I think they're really good, but I completely agree with you. I think they're all talented, but overall I don't have one true 'stand-out' that has touched me like David Cook, David Archuletta, (or Jason Castro ). I just don't see any one indivdual who 'moves me' like any of those guys could. Do you like Michael Sarver though? It looks like he's the one that's going to be most country. I didn't love this week's performance (he was ok I thought), but I think he's going to do really well if he sticks to his country roots.

Okay, so they mention the reason they made the new rule was because of Jennifer Hudson, Daughtry, etc... but HELLO!!!!!!! Are they out begging for food int he streets? No! Hudson is even in movies now and has won awards! Even though she was voted off to early... the fans still supported her... if you're THAT good, it doesn't matter if you leave early, you will be on your way to the top. I hate that with this rule, it's like a double letdown for the contestants... I would prefer that the judges say if they are saving them or not BEFORE they sing... I think it's just another way for the judges to control the show more.
I think I haven't really bonded with any contestant because of the format, the way they are doing things this year... I mean, you had 12 people singing and ALL but 3 went through! I hated that... I hated that they praised Felicia and then didn't even bring her back as a wildcard... maybe because she would have really been a competition for some the ones on there already...

I'm just now seeing your post Carol....I agree with you 100%!! It's pretty silly at this point to bring up these past so-called "losers", when they're some of the most successful ones out there! I think this is mostly about having some control in case we do get some kind of 'Sanjaya' person in there due to 'vote for the worst'.
Country night---should be interesting! I always like country night because it's kind of funny to watch some of those singers who are so clearly not country! :haha: I'm sure there will be some good ones tonight...I'm thinking Michael Sarver really needs to cling to his country roots---he's the only one in there, isn't he? I'm drawing a blank at the moment...
Have fun tonight Jacob!

Well, who did everyone like? I thought Anoop was the best, with You Were Always on My Mind. And I thought Adam did a good job, regardless of what Simon said. He's definitely an original who puts his own stamp on everything he does. Although he was doing Johnny Cash, there were times I thought he looked a bit like a gay Elvis.

Rob!!! LOL, I thought the very same thing!! :haha: He has that 'lip curl' and some of Elvis's 'look'. He's not my style, but I found myself agreeing with Kara---strange, but oddly, I liked it! LOL! Hey, the guy has contol, and it was anything but 'horrific', as Simon said. He certainly has undeniable pipes. He is very likeable too, I think.
I really liked Anoop too---boy, did he redeem himself!! And I liked Kris too!! I voted for him, and Matt Giroud too! I'm excited at how well Matt is doing...I hope he goes far!
I figured out tonight who Kara reminds me of. Every week, as I listen to her speak, I think to myself "she reminds me of somebody!" Well tonight I realized, she talks like Julia Roberts!! Like when she said to Megan "you are a winner"....I don't know, it's how she emphasizes and enunciates her speech, and even the way she says her 'r's. Maybe it's just me.
I think the ones in danger this week are Michael (even though I thought he did pretty good), and maybe Alexis. Overall I was very impressed with everyone tonight.

Totally agree Jacob. What in the world was that???!! HORRIBLE! Even though I don't listen to too much country music, I do like a lot of the songs, I like Ring of Fire but Adam destroyed that song! After he finished I had so many expressions:
Danny Gokey didn't do that well either. Paula is too nice. Carrie Underwood would go out and buy that CD?? :RiiightS: He also could have dressed a little better... he did look like he was going to take a trip up to the snow.

Ok, this just cracked me up! Tell us what you really think, Teresa! :Hahaha:
Oh, and I recorded it last night and went back to watch his performance again, and at the end they cut to his family and it looks like his dad nodded at his mom and said "Awesome"... :haha: That was before he heard the feedback, LOL! Aw, we parents are quite the biased ones, aren't we?
I actually think that could have been a lot better...it was 'current', as Randy said, and I appreciate what he was trying to do, but it was over the top. I think my main issue with Adam is (and I'm not just referring to this performance), is his breathing and phrasing. I must say though, there was a spot in that song where he turns to the camera and the way he's singing/sceaming almost sounds like he's crying or something! I played it back for my son and we were both laughing hysterically! I really need to see Adam tone it down a bit to see if I actually like him.
