I have been thinking and praying for my buddy all day long. I called her on Thursday night and she sounded very courageous. She explained the process to me and gave me an insight as to what she would have been going through today. Please keep praying. She's a wonderful girl, I've met her several times.
We love you Lorrie, get well soon.

I hadn't seen any updates on Lorrie's fb wall, so checked her sister's wall. Here is what she said:

"Good news! My sissie is finially out of surgery and doing well...all in all it took almost 5 hours. Now an hour in recovery and then we will get to see her :o) She should be out on Wednesday they think ...she is such a trooper...has a long way to go but hopefully the hardest parts are behind her...Love ya Lorrie!"


Her sister had commented that they were going to check for cancer in the lymph nodes...if there was, they wouldn't have been able to put the expanders in to prepare for the reconstruction...she would have to start radiation. But nothing was said here, so I'm assuming they didn't find any. Hope not.


Praying hard for Lorrie and hoping she's not in too much pain today.

Lorrie has posted on her fb page that she is home already and doing well. I am so relieved. She is understandably tired and was headed for her recliner but knowing my friend, I'm sure she will be around soon.
Lorrie, we all love you and are so proud of you. You are truly amazing.

Yeah, I've been trying to follow on Facebook. Glad it all went well.

Thank you my dear prairie friends... I am home resting comfortably and so far without pain medication. If I remain still there is no pain at all it's when I stand and gravity takes over I can feel the pulling. My worst pain is on my left side. I have two drainage tubes, one under each armpit and it's around the tube on the left side that is the most painful. Surprisingly my chest (or lack of one) doesn't hurt at all but I can feel the muscle and I am sure that is from the expanders that are in place. My drain tubes will be in place for at least a week to ten days. I get the honor of draining and measuring the fluids every four hours.

Great news... no cancer in the lymph nodes so therefore no radiation in the future. Surprisingly sitting here at the computer doesn't hurt either. Maybe a good source of entertainment for me over the next few days.. LOL

My next step is a visit with both my surgeons next Wednesday, sooner if I have complications.

I needed to give my butt a break from the recliner and now I must think about what I want for lunch.

I sincerely want to thank you guys for starting the vigil when my surgery started. I know this is why I am recovering as fast as I am. How can I not without all this love and support.

I am now officially cancer free and can consider myself a cancer survivor. I am thrilled to share that title with Rhonda.

Great news, Lorrie!!!

I am so happy to hear you are doing well! I'm very glad the pain seems tolerable. It seems incredible that you are managing without pain meds.

Tim had one of those lovely drainage tubes after his surgery, but the only difference is that his was placed in the middle of one of his butt cheeks (no, he wouldn't mind me sharing this ) ), so he wasn't able to sit for several weeks. Why they positioned it in such a bad spot, I'll never know.

I'm continuing to pray as you are going through your recovery, and I'm so happy to hear such a great report!

Lorrie, what awesome news that you are doing SO well! WOW. I mean, to think you were on an operating table for 5 hours undergoing a major surgery just two short days ago?!?! I mean, isn't that bizarre to even think about? I'm thrilled for you that you are well on your way to a quick recovery, and SO relieved to hear there is NO more cancer. Woo hoo!!
