| Hey Gang, Sorry for the delayed update but I wanted to wait until after I met with both my doctors yesterday to give you the most current news. First of all I am feeling fantastic, other then the discomfort of having drain tubes under each armpit life is getting back to normal. Believe it or not I even went back to work this week, my boss is awesome and I almost feel if I was home I would be more physical as there would be nobody there to babysit me... lol Yesterday's news is kind of bittersweet though. My breast surgeon had great news, everything is healing nicely and no signs of infection. But one of my incisions may need to be redone. This type of surgery they make a upside down T cut. Where the the two lines meet there is a flap of skin that blood is coagulating in. If it's not better by Monday I have a noon appointment back in surgery where the surgeon will remove this flap of skin and restitch me back up. Although this is not routine, it's not abnormal either. The only problem is it sets me back a couple of weeks and we can't start the expansion process until my new incision is healed. Other then that we also found out my husband has a torn rotater cuff and is scheduled for surgery March 31st. It's a workman's comp thing and he's been putting up with it since November. When it rains it pours but hey at least I will have good company while I'm convalescing. Love you guys... and thank you so much for everything. It feels good to have most of the bad stuff behind me. Oh and my hair is about a quarter to a half inch long. Maybe I'll post a picture in a week or two. It's coming in dark.. so I think my original brown color will be dominant. Lorrie | |

| Well yesterday I had to have my "Nip Tuck" surgery. It was a one hour procedure and my hubby was able to bring me home after a few hours recovery. I awoke to wearing another "chest binder" which is kinda like a tube top. Peaked underneath and now I am sporting some pretty serious hardware. Looks like they chose small 1/4 inch staples this go around. That should hold someone like me together... Surprisingly still having no pain and this set back hasn't slowed me down physically. I am still sporting my drain tubes but within a week those darn things should be removed and my mobility will be 100 times better not to mention being able to finally hop in the shower. Those daily bird baths don't seem to make a girl feel frilly... Lot's of perfume aids in that matter. Monday I have a post op appointment and I will find out how things are going with this latest procedure. Hey Rhonda.. question for you. I won't be doing radiation until after my expanders are inflated (probably 2 months). From what I've been reading, did they tatoo little "x's" on your site? Some I've read they did that and others they didn't. I guess it all depends on the Radiation oncologist doing the procedure but this was the first time I've heard of these X's. I was given a really neat book called "Uplift, Secret's From the Sisterhood of Breast Cancer Survivors" by Barbara Delinsky. Very rewarding read and makes you feel better about your own journey. The book details every step of the journey through the eyes of thousands of breast cancer survivors. In the chapter on radiation some still had these tatoo X's 10 years later, a permanent testament of their victory over cancer. This book was published in the early 90's and it's last revision was in 2003 so I am sure some of the procedures may have changed since then. Either way I am sure I would be okay with a few more tatoos. LOL Thanks for the prayers and all the love... I must admit it does feel good to actually share my journey with individuals. It's better then writing them down in a say my own personal journal. By doing that it doesn't give you feedback and support and so much is lost in that regard. You guys keep my spirits lifted... | My granny had breats cancer surgery and I didn't see any tatoos on her, nor she had any kind of pain. Maybe was she faking she wouldn't feel any pain? I think her cancer was very little, so she had had less troubles. Happily, you are doing well, Lorrie! I'm so glad you are feeling every day, better and better ! Vanesa. | |

Take care of yourself and don't over-do it TOO much, young lady. Something tells me you're the type that your hubby has to say ,"Lorrie, sit your butt DOWN!" Am I riiiiight???? | |
